A new listing suggests that the second playable character in Resident Evil Requiem might have been revealed, and it’s a surprising choice. The Resident Evil series has a long history of telling stories both big and small – from the contained horror of Resident Evil 7 to the large-scale action of Resident Evil 6. Recent games, like those featuring Ethan Winters, have focused on a more personal story of survival against monsters in rural settings. However, Resident Evil Requiem appears to be shifting focus, introducing a new character as the main protagonist.
We got our first preview of Resident Evil Requiem earlier this year, learning that you’ll play as a new character named Grace Ashcroft, who is the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft. Since then, Capcom has only shown small parts of the game, mostly reusing the same footage. It’s obvious they’re keeping a lot of the details secret, including rumors about multiple playable characters. Many fans believe Leon Kennedy will also be a main character, especially since he hasn’t appeared yet in this new direction for the series, but Capcom hasn’t confirmed or denied it.
Resident Evil Requiem Will Reportedly Feature Rose Winters, According to GameStop

Recent information suggests Leon Kennedy might not be the only familiar face returning in the next Resident Evil game. A new listing on GameStop indicates that Rosemary Winters, Ethan Winters’ daughter, will be featured. Players briefly controlled Rose as a baby in the ‘Resident Evil Village’ DLC, after a significant time skip, and some thought she might be the main character in the next installment. While that idea was dismissed in the game’s reveal trailer, GameStop lists special outfits for Rose as downloadable content, hinting at a more substantial role.
It’s possible Rose could appear in downloadable content for Resident Evil Requiem or as a playable character in Mercenaries mode, without being part of the main story. However, it’s not confirmed. The leak originated on Reddit, and some users there think the listing might have been written with the help of AI, which mistakenly swapped the names of characters Grace and Rose – a similar error occurred when the game was first announced.
Some fans don’t think Rose could appear in Resident Evil Requiem because the game’s timeline doesn’t fit. Requiem is set 30 years after Resident Evil 3, meaning Rose would be very young – under 10 years old – during the events of the game. While it’s possible the game could jump between different time periods, that would be a complicated and unlikely plot device.
I’m so hyped for Resident Evil Requiem! We’re getting another look at it during The Game Awards this week, and everyone’s hoping Capcom will finally show off a new playable character. A lot of fans think it’ll be Leon Kennedy, which would be amazing, but there’s also a chance we’ll find out Rose is actually playable! It’s killing me waiting to find out, but thankfully, we’re getting really close to being able to play the game ourselves!
The new movie, Resident Evil Requiem, comes out on February 27, 2026. What are your thoughts? Share them in the comments and join the discussion on the ComicBook Forum!
