Even before the release of Resident Evil Requiem, excitement is building around a possible remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica. After a report from Dusk Golem suggested an announcement was on the way this year, another insider, NateTheHate, has confirmed it’s likely to happen.
The remake is currently being worked on and is expected to be released in the first half of 2027. Given the typical release schedule of recent Resident Evil games, this timing isn’t unexpected. It’s still encouraging to see multiple sources confirming the remake is actually happening.
As a huge Resident Evil fan, I still remember when Code: Veronica first came out for the Dreamcast back in 2000! It picks up right after the disaster in Raccoon City, and you play as either Claire or Chris Redfield as they uncover the twisted experiments and terrifying secrets of the Ashford family. What really blew me away at the time was that it was the first game in the series with completely 3D backgrounds and a camera that moved more naturally – it felt like a huge step forward for survival horror!
The remake is reportedly focusing on Claire as the main character, though Chris will still be involved. Rumors also suggest Albert Wesker will have a significantly larger role, and we’ll see more scenes featuring the HCF, the special team from Umbrella’s competitor.
We’re expecting to learn more about Resident Evil Requiem soon, before it comes out on February 27th. The game will be released on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Yes, Code Veronica is being remade & deep in development. Target of release is first half 2027.
