Resident Evil Insider Gives Update on Next Remake

A trusted source close to the ‘Resident Evil‘ franchise has given a recent update on the upcoming remake of the classic horror game. Back in 2019, Capcom embarked on the process of reimagining ‘Resident Evil’ games, starting with the highly acclaimed ‘Resident Evil 2’. This was followed by the remake of another fan favorite, ‘Resident Evil 3’, in 2020. Three years later, they released a remake of ‘Resident Evil 4’, which many believe is their best work yet. Unfortunately, since then, there has been no news about the next ‘Resident Evil’ remake. Given that ‘Resident Evil Requiem’ is scheduled for release in 2026, it seems we’ll have to wait a while longer before hearing more about the next remake.

Although Capcom hasn’t made any formal announcements yet about the next Resident Evil remake, there’s been a steady stream of rumors. The latest whisper in the gaming community suggests that the upcoming Resident Evil remake was intended to be released already, but it apparently encountered an internal delay.

The Wait Wasn’t Supposed to Be This Long

A fresh rumor has surfaced from Dusk Golem, a reliable source regarding Resident Evil series. The tipster claims that the Resident Evil Zero Remake underwent not only a delay within the project, but a full overhaul during development.

Initially, ‘Zero Remake’ and ‘Resident Evil Requiem’ were planned for release by this point. However, both have faced internal delays. Last year, ‘Zero’ underwent a sort of reboot and there was a change in the team responsible for its production.

Generally speaking, it’s not ideal when a game undergoes a remake while it’s still in production, but this is apparently something that happens frequently within this specific series, based on what the insider source suggests.

Remember that multiple reboots during development are often found in this game series, and this doesn’t necessarily reflect the final quality of the game. For instance, Resident Evil 2 (RE:2) and Resident Evil 4 (RE:4) underwent mid-development changes, and even Resident Evil 4 had a swap in development teams as a case in point. Sometimes, this is just how these games come to be.

When Will Resident Evil Zero Remake Release?

It seems that, according to the latest report, we don’t have a definite date for when the next Resident Evil remake will be launched. If the report is accurate, and it was initially planned for release already, it might indicate that it’s close but not yet available. Interestingly, Capcom won’t be releasing the remake this year alongside Resident Evil Requiem, so the earliest possible release would be 2027 at the soonest. As for fans eagerly anticipating a remake of Resident Evil 5, it appears they’ll have to wait even longer than that.
