Resident Evil Insider Reveals New Info on Next Remake After Veronica

A reliable source who often shares accurate information about the Resident Evil series has revealed details about the next game Capcom plans to remake after Resident Evil: Code Veronica. Capcom recently announced that a remake of Code Veronica is in development for current gaming systems, with an expected release date sometime in 2027. This will be the fourth mainline Resident Evil game remade by Capcom in the last ten years, following successful updates to RE2, RE3, and RE4. Although Capcom will eventually move on to Resident Evil 10, they also plan to remake another older title, though development hasn’t been entirely smooth.

Reliable sources indicate that Capcom is currently developing a remake of Resident Evil 0. While rumors about a remake have been around for a while, new information suggests the project has been restarted internally at Capcom. This likely means the initial development faced challenges, leading the team to essentially begin the remake from the ground up.

Dusk Golem reported that Capcom’s internal “Division 1” team is handling the remake of Resident Evil 0. This is significant because it means Capcom is now developing the game entirely in-house, without relying on external developers. This approach is similar to what they did with the Resident Evil 3: Nemesis remake, which received the lowest review scores of any Resident Evil remake. Capcom likely wants to avoid repeating those issues with this new version of Resident Evil 0 and is therefore taking full control of its development.

There’s no confirmed release date for the Resident Evil 0 remake yet, and it’s likely still a ways off. Considering Resident Evil: Veronica is planned for 2027, this RE0 remake could become Capcom’s main Resident Evil release in 2028. We’ll share any new information about the remake here on ComicBook as soon as it’s available.
