Retro Sports Favourite Backyard Baseball Returns in a Brand New Game Later This Year

So, remember Backyard Sports? It totally disappeared for a while, but it came back a couple of years ago! Now it looks like the folks at Playground Productions are working on a whole new game – pretty exciting for a long-time fan like me!

The classic game Backyard Baseball is making a comeback with a brand new, fully 3D version! The introduction shows the game moving into a new visual style.

Mega Cat Studios created this game to feel like the classic titles fans enjoy, but with updated gameplay.

Backyard Baseball is a fun baseball game for players of all ages, where kids play the sport like they’re having a game right in their own backyard.

The upcoming game includes updated versions of 11 stadiums, 24 teams, and 30 playable characters, along with six different ways to play. Players can use special power-ups, customize their experience with accessibility options, learn the ropes with helpful tutorials, and earn extra characters and rewards as they progress.

The game is scheduled to launch in July 2026 on PC and consoles, and the website suggests it will be available on PlayStation.
