So, Richard Osman is stepping down from hosting House of Games, and honestly, it feels like the end of an era! He’s finally talked about his decision, and it sounds like he feels it’s the right time to pass the torch. Michael Sheen is taking over, which is fantastic news – he’s a brilliant actor and I’m really excited to see what he brings to the show. Osman’s been a wonderfully witty host, and while I’ll miss him, I’m optimistic about this new chapter for House of Games.
Earlier this month, it was revealed that Osman would be stepping down after hosting the popular quiz show for nine years. The BBC has since announced that Sheen will be taking over as the new host.
People have been asking a lot of questions about the new host, like if the show’s name will change and if Charlie Sheen’s image will be used on products.
They’re now making merchandise featuring Michael Sheen’s face for a show called ‘Michael Sheen’s House of Games’.

Osman shared that they’ll be filming an episode to introduce the new host, but confirmed Sheen won’t be competing on his version of the show.
We’re all thrilled Michael is taking this on, and we’re excited to see what he does with it,” he shared with his co-host, Marina Hyde. “I want to give him a warm welcome. He has a fantastic team and I know he’s going to really enjoy the experience.
But would Osman ever appear on Michael Sheen’s House of Games? Not yet anyway…
The host said that idea was a bit too self-referential and that it’s best to give new contestants a chance to settle in. However, they’d like to do it sometime in the future – perhaps in a few years, maybe around Christmas.
He finished by saying he hopes the new host does well. He’d recently told him it’s a really enjoyable show with a fantastic team, and believes it’s a perfect fit for him as a host.
