Rita Wilson Brings Her & Tom Hanks’ Granddaughter to Grammys 2026

Rita Wilson turned the 2026 Grammys into a glamorous family night.

Rita Wilson attended the Grammy Awards on February 1st with her granddaughter, Olivia Hanks, as her date. While her husband of 37 years, Tom Hanks, wasn’t there, it was a particularly special night because it also happened to be Olivia’s 15th birthday.

For the event, 69-year-old Rita wore a black, short-sleeved dress by Jenny Packham, adorned with silver sequins. She completed the outfit with silver fingerless gloves and a coordinating handbag.

Olivia, the oldest of Colin Hanks and Samantha Bryant’s two daughters, wore a long navy blue dress with a sparkly strap over her left shoulder. (See more Grammys red carpet fashion here.)

Olivia was with her grandmother during the Grammy Awards ceremony itself, but Rita made sure to spread the fun throughout the weekend. Her son, Chet Hanks, attended Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party the night before.

For Rita, who shares 30-year-old Truman Hanks with Tom and is stepmother to Colin, 48, and 43-year-old E.A. Hanks from Tom’s previous marriage, spending time with her granddaughters is all about creating happy memories.

She told Entertainment Tonight in 2023 that it’s important to really participate with your kids – jump on the trampoline with them, swim with them, play sports, and just spend time together.

Even though Colin’s parents love spending time with their granddaughters – sometimes disrupting the schedules he and Samantha have established – he’s learned to joke about it.

In a 2022 interview with Today, the Fargo actor expressed a wish that the children received more focus on things like bedtime routines and were given home-cooked meals they enjoyed. However, she quickly added that the kids were, in fact, doing well and were happy.

He explained that their days turn into a chaotic mix of indulgence and disregard for any plan. He joked that all they really need to complete the picture are some goofy sweater vests, glasses, and a habit of complaining about the temperature – then everything would feel right.
