Rita Wilson Details How She and Tom Hanks Celebrate the Holidays

Tom Hanks is making a list, but it’s Rita Wilson who will be checking it twice.

Before the holidays began, singer Songbird shared how she and her husband celebrated with their sons, Chet Hanks, 35, and Truman Hanks, 29.

Rita shared at the Governors Awards that her husband loves to fill stockings with small gifts. ‘We’re always curious to see what he’ll come up with,’ she told TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi. ‘I usually tell him I don’t need any more pens – he’s obsessed with them! He also really likes small gadgets and tech items.’

Rita doesn’t put as much thought into gifts as Tom, who is also the father of Colin, 47, and E.A., 43 (with his late ex-wife, Samantha Lewes). She admits she usually depends on online gift ideas, but enjoys the process anyway, saying, “I try to find things in there, but it’s super fun.”

Rita is always great at finding ways to celebrate, and she recently had a fantastic 69th birthday last month, as the Now and Then star shared.

As to how she marked the special occasion?

“Just a wonderful, cozy beautiful dinner,” she added, “with family and friends.” 

Tom, 69, and Rita both say they work wonderfully together in maintaining family traditions and raising their children. Last year, Tom told TopMob News that the key to their successful marriage is simply finding each other.

The actor known for The Polar Express has also pointed out that the couple’s achievements, whether in their careers or through charitable work, are due to their mutual support and collaboration.

He told TopMob that this woman regularly has conversations with him. They’d look through records, review past performance, and discuss upcoming tasks.

Rita is always there for Tom, supporting him in both planning for what’s ahead and celebrating everything he’s already achieved.

Everyone experiences challenges, but it’s fantastic to have a chance to celebrate someone—especially when recognizing their life’s work. I think it’s wonderful for Tom to receive the Cecil B. de Mille Award at the Golden Globes, and it means a lot to our whole family, too.”

Tom Hanks attended the premiere of his wife’s movie, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2, where she was also a producer, to show his support.

Tom Hanks was a supportive husband, holding his wife close after she performed at the 54 Below nightclub in New York City.

Tom joined Rita on the red carpet for the premiere of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, a film she helped produce.

The couple looked stunning at the Stand Up To Cancer event in Los Angeles, which brought Hollywood together for its fifth fundraiser.

Tom Cruise described meeting Rita Wilson as realizing what marriage should feel like. In a 2013 interview with Piers Morgan, he said it felt ‘carefree and easy,’ like ‘this is what it’s supposed to be like when you are married to someone.’

The couple shared a look of love as Rita accepted her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. 

It’s no surprise that Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks supported each other wholeheartedly on their wedding day in 1988 – it was the biggest day of their lives, and they were clearly each other’s biggest fans.
