Rob Lowe is lowering the bar for his kids.
Actor Rob Lowe, who has two sons, Matthew, 32, and John Owen, 30, with his wife Sheryl Berkoff, 64, playfully suggested that a good attitude is the first step to a perfect Father’s Day.
Rob shared a simple life lesson: managing your expectations is key to happiness. He told Erin Lim Rhodes of TopMob News at the FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony in Los Angeles on June 12th that keeping expectations low can lead to greater contentment. In fact, he admitted he doesn’t expect much for Father’s Day – a card would make him happy.
Although Rob, age 62, is still planning his holiday with his children and his wife, Sheryl (whom he married in 1991), he has already made time to visit his own father.
Rob recently visited his father, who lives in Ohio. They celebrated an early Father’s Day last weekend, and the experience made him wonder what gifts and celebrations he would receive from his own family – his wife and sons.
If his family was looking for really special gifts, he actually had a few ideas! He shared what he’d consider dream gifts, which was so thoughtful of him.
Rob, the Los Angeles Hospitality Captain for this year’s World Cup, thinks dads would appreciate gifts like a round of golf, a guys’ night out, or tickets to a sporting event for Father’s Day.
This Father’s Day, Rob will be celebrating with his sons – both of whom he’s had the chance to work with professionally. His son Matthew is a lawyer based in California and previously appeared on the reality show The Lowe Files with the family. Rob’s younger son co-created and starred alongside him in the Netflix comedy Unstable, where they played a father and son for two seasons.
Rob shared with TopMob News in 2024 that he feels fortunate to collaborate with his children on these projects. His son, John Owen, expressed a similar sense of appreciation for continuing his father’s work.
John Owen shared on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live in 2025 that his father won’t always be with him, and he cherishes being able to experience things together. He also acknowledged how challenging it can be to work in the entertainment business.
