Rodeo Champion Kelsie Domer’s Daughter, 3, Dies After Horse Accident

Kelsie Domer is mourning the unimaginable.

Kelsie, a 10-time world champion rodeo competitor, announced the death of her 3-year-old daughter, Oaklynn, on February 19th via a Facebook post sharing the obituary.

Oaklynn lived a full life despite being with us for a short time. She loved traveling to rodeos across the country, practicing with her parents, and, above all, cherished her family.

Honestly, people were just drawn to her! She had this incredible warmth and loved everyone – from animals like frogs and horses, to all the neighborhood pups. She was a total social butterfly, always up for a good time – she even loved those ‘yodeling’ competitions! But the best part? She never met a stranger. Seriously, she could walk into a room and instantly make it brighter just by being herself.

I was so shocked to hear about Kelsie and her family. Apparently, she and her little daughter, Oaklynn, were involved in a terrible accident. One of their horses had a medical issue and fell on them, according to Rodeo Life. Kelsie is married to Ryan Domer, and I’m just sending all my positive thoughts to them both and little Oaklynn right now.

The 35-year-old cowboy, who was carrying his daughter, Oaklynn, and leading an animal, was unharmed. Sadly, despite efforts to save her, Oaklynn died from her injuries, according to reports.

After the sad news of Oaklynn’s passing, Simply Equine & K9 and Kelsie—a team member of four years, according to their website—shared a post on Instagram.

We are heartbroken to share that Oaklynn has passed away, as the company announced in a video on February 20th. Please keep Kelsie, Ryan, her family, and all who loved her in your thoughts and prayers.

Following Oaklynn’s death, breakaway ropers wore pink at a competition in San Antonio on February 20th as a tribute to her. Kelsie, Oaklynn’s mother, shared a post from someone who attended, saying she knew her daughter would have loved seeing everyone wear pink.

Taormino Performance Horses recently posted a fun Instagram clip showing a rider decorating her horse’s saddle with bright pink flowers. The post included a warm message, saying, “Kels and Ryan are with us today!”

Breakaway roper Haley Sage Wright was also at the event and took part. She shared a video of her family on Instagram on February 23rd, with a message saying she was wearing pink to honor a very brave young cowgirl.
