ROG Xbox Ally Handhelds Are Already Going Out of Stock During Pre-Orders

Microsoft announced that pre-orders for the Asus ROG Ally and Ally X handheld gaming PCs have already sold out on the Xbox store globally. While Microsoft is out of stock, Asus still has some units available for pre-order through its own online store.

Microsoft announced on Xbox’s official social media that preorders for the ROG Xbox Ally X are completely sold out globally. The initial excitement and demand proved to be very high!

The quick popularity of handheld gaming devices likely explains why Microsoft’s Jason Ronald recently expressed enthusiasm for the partnership with Asus. In an interview, he mentioned that the collaboration would allow both companies to leverage their unique skills in creating these portable gaming systems.

Ronald stated they are thrilled about the collaboration with Asus. He believes combining their expertise will help expand the market as a whole, and that’s their main goal.

Microsoft announced that its Handheld Compatibility Program, first shown at Gamescom, will be open to all handheld gaming system manufacturers using Windows. This program is launching with support for devices like the ROG Ally and Ally X, but is designed for any Windows-based handheld.

He explained that the Handheld Compatibility Program will launch with the Xbox Ally, but it’s designed to work with all handheld gaming devices. While they can’t predict what will happen in the future, they are very enthusiastic about this current partnership.

Even though many people pre-ordered it, the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X will be available in stores around the world starting October 16th. This handheld device is a big step forward for Microsoft and Windows, as it’s the first time we’ll see a complete version of the operating system designed to work well with a controller, without needing a mouse or keyboard.

Microsoft has improved Windows 11 for the ROG Ally and Ally X to provide a better gaming experience. One key improvement is the Xbox Fullscreen Experience, which optimizes system performance by only running essential processes while gaming. This frees up over 2 GB of RAM, allowing it to be used by more demanding games.
