People who love games made by Larian Studios – including us – are guessing that a recent hint from Geoff Keighley about The Game Awards might be related to a new game in the Divinity series.
Before creating Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios had already built a popular fantasy RPG world called Divinity. The Divinity: Original Sin and Divinity: Original Sin 2 games were both released on PlayStation 4 and received excellent reviews from both critics and players.
Why is everyone starting to believe this rumor? It began last November with strong leaks indicating that Divinity: Original Sin 2 is coming to the PlayStation 5. Now, PlayStation Game Size, which tracks updates to the PlayStation Store, suggests it’s actually happening.
Things are starting to fall into place. If the big Game Awards statue really hints at Larian’s next game, it makes sense they’d announce everything at once and release the original Divinity: Original Sin 2 on PlayStation 5 to build excitement.
Reliable sources, like eXtas1s, are now suggesting on social media that the strange statue recently installed in downtown Los Angeles is connected to the game Divinity.
Additionally, some fans have noticed the creatures on the statue look similar to designs from the Divinity games, though it’s fair to say many western fantasy games share similar elements.
It’s important to remember this is mostly based on educated guesses, but everything seems to be falling into place.
Baldur’s Gate 3’s success has significantly boosted Larian’s value, making their next announcement a particularly important moment for Keighley’s event. The marketing campaign leading up to it has also been substantial, suggesting only a few developers could justify such a large investment.
Wow, I’m really trying to figure out what’s going on with this theory! Does it actually hold up, or could The Game Awards teaser be hinting at something totally unexpected? Let’s keep the discussion friendly though, and avoid getting into arguments, okay?
