With Eidos-Montreal facing more layoffs, details are emerging about what the studio has been working on internally.
It appears a developer was working on a reboot of either Legacy of Kain or Soul Reaver, but unfortunately, the project was cancelled at some point during development.
A former employee’s resume listed a “dark fantasy action RPG,” but clarified that the game involved bringing back a well-known vampire franchise.
So, Eidos-Montreal is actually owned by Embracer Group, and things haven’t been great for them lately. They’re the ones who own the rights to Legacy of Kain, which is awesome, and they actually remastered Soul Reaver 1 & 2 for PlayStation 5 and 4 about a year ago. I really enjoyed revisiting those classics!
Reports surfaced earlier this year that Eidos-Montreal was trying to get funding for a new Deus Ex game, but publishers didn’t seem interested in the project.
It’s also interesting to note that the resume mentions a cancelled science fiction stealth game, which might be connected to the currently inactive cyberpunk project.
