Ryan Seacrest Shares Dad Gary Lee Seacrest Died

Ryan Seacrest is navigating a heartbreaking loss.

Ryan Seacrest announced the passing of his father, Gary Lee Seacrest. He had previously revealed that his father had been fighting prostate cancer for several years.

He announced on Instagram on October 31st that his father had passed away peacefully. He shared that his mother and sister, along with himself, were saddened by the loss but found comfort knowing his father was no longer in pain and was now at peace. They are all heartbroken.

The post also featured photos of Gary with his family: his wife, Constance Marie Zullinger, Ryan’s sister Meredith Seacrest, her husband Jimmy Leach, and their daughter, Flora Leach.

The former American Idol host shared about his father, saying he was a loving husband for 56 years, a wonderful grandfather to Flora, and his closest friend.

The photos also featured a nostalgic picture of Ryan with his father when Ryan was younger, both dressed in suits. There was also a more recent photo of them cooking together as adults.

The 50-year-old concluded, “Dad you will live in our hearts forever. I love you.”

Gary died recently, just a few months after his son, Ryan, revealed that he had been secretly fighting prostate cancer for several years.

During a recent interview on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, he shared that his father, who is around 80 years old, has been battling prostate cancer for several years. He explained that despite treatment, his father’s condition worsened and the cancer spread, and unfortunately, things didn’t improve.

The TV host explained that he chose to make the information public because his father became seriously ill while he was still working on American Idol.

He shared that during a live show last season of American Idol, his sister called with devastating news: their father was in the ICU with pneumonia. He managed to finish the show, though he barely remembered what he was saying. He described feeling like a robot, just going through the motions.

Despite the difficulties, Ryan also remembered happy times, particularly the loving bond between his parents and a cherished memory of them relaxing at the beach while his father was undergoing treatment.

He recalled seeing pictures of them enjoying themselves together on weekends – smiling, happy, and clearly in love. They’ve been married for 55 years, and he realized they had each other, which was all that mattered.

Ryan shared that his parents simply enjoy being together and watching the ocean, something he’s kept to himself for a long time and wanted to express.
