Sabrina Carpenter is dealing with a scary situation.
Sabrina Carpenter received a temporary restraining order on June 1st against a man accused of stalking her and trying to break into her house.
Court records show that 31-year-old William Applegate is legally barred from approaching singer Carpenter. The order also prevents him from going near Carpenter’s sister, Sarah Carpenter, and her partner, George Smith, who both live with the singer in her Hollywood Hills house.
The restraining order also prevents Applegate from approaching Carpenter’s workplace and vehicle.
I’ve been following this case closely, and I understand there’s a hearing set for June 17th. That’s when the current temporary order is up, so a lot is riding on it!
TopMob News contacted representatives for Carpenter but hasn’t received a response. We’ve also been unable to find a lawyer for Applegate.
On May 29th, Carpenter filed a request for a restraining order against Applegate in Los Angeles County court. According to court documents obtained by TopMob News, Carpenter claims Applegate tried to enter her home on May 23rd.
In a petition, the 27-year-old described his actions as intentional, planned, and threatening. She explained that he started by walking onto her neighbor’s property to get around the fence protecting her home. He then moved closer and went straight to her front door.
She explained that Applegate tried to force his way into her home by pushing down on her front door lever without being invited or having her permission. After attempting to enter, he then knocked and rang the doorbell.

Carpenter stated that her security team stepped in, and Applegate then claimed he knew the singer known as “Please Please Please” and that she was expecting him. According to court documents and photos Carpenter provided – showing Applegate near her home, and with support from the LAPD – he stayed on her property until the police arrived and arrested him.
She claims he came back the next day, spending roughly two hours in his car before approaching her house. A security guard told him to leave. He returned on May 25th and remained in his car until the police arrived.
Carpenter stated in her petition that, although the situation came to a head in late May, her security team discovered Applegate’s car was first seen on camera near her home on April 20th.

I am deeply afraid for my safety and the safety of my family because of Applegate’s repeated actions. He has repeatedly trespassed on my property and violated my privacy. The most alarming incident was when he tried to force his way into my home without permission – it was a deeply disturbing invasion of my personal space and sense of security.
She explained that his insistence on knowing her and believing she expected him is a sign of a dangerous obsession. She also stated that his stalking, trespassing, and surveillance have caused her significant emotional distress, and she fears for her safety if the court doesn’t restrict his behavior.
