Sarah Michelle Gellar Breaks Silence on Nicholas Brendon’s Death

Sarah Michelle Gellar is remembering the life of Nicholas Brendon.

Following the death of Nicholas at age 54 on March 20th, a fellow actor from Buffy the Vampire Slayer shared a touching tribute.

Sarah, 48, shared a quote on Instagram from the character Xander Harris on the show, saying, ‘They’ll never know how tough it is to be the one who isn’t chosen.’ She went on to say, ‘To live so close to success, but never achieve it, is hard. But I understand, because I see things others don’t, as I’m often overlooked.’

Seeing that old photo of Nicky really got to me. Sarah shared it with a sweet message, saying she knows he’s finally at peace, relaxing in his favorite rocking chair up in heaven. It was just a beautiful way to remember him.

Her emotional tribute comes one day after Nicholas’ family confirmed his death.

He died peacefully in his sleep from natural causes, according to a statement released to The Hollywood Reporter. He was widely known as an actor and remembered for the memorable characters he played throughout his career.

Brendon was receiving medical care for several health issues, including cauda equina syndrome, a condition caused by nerve damage near the base of the spine, and a congenital heart defect, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Despite these challenges, his family said he remained hopeful about the future until his death.

Nicky recently discovered a love for painting and art, which he enjoyed sharing with those close to him and his followers. People who knew him well said he was deeply passionate, sensitive, and always striving to create. They believed his artwork truly showed who he was at heart.

The family released a statement asking for privacy while they mourn and remember a man who lived life to the fullest, with passion, creativity, and kindness. They expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support.

After Nicholas passed away, many more of his fellow cast members from Buffy shared their sympathy and support.

Alyson Hannigan shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram on March 20th, remembering her beloved ‘Sweet Nicky’ with gratitude for the years of joy, affection, and shared love of the Dodgers. She wrote that she’ll always think of him when she sees a rocking chair, and expressed her deep love, ending with ‘Rest in Peace’.

Emma Caulfield, best known for playing Anya Jenkins on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, shared a heartfelt message online, writing, “Rest Nicky. Rest. I love you.” She has since removed the post.

She shared on Instagram Stories that she was deeply saddened, saying she was struggling to express how much this affected her, according to a post by Deadline.
