Sarah Michelle Gellar, a famous actress known for her roles in horror films, is discussing her new horror project and how it relates to the Scream series. She’s well-known as a ‘Scream Queen’ and previously starred in the Scream movies.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sarah Michelle Gellar discussed the shared history she has with Samara Weaving, her co-star in Ready or Not 2. Both actresses were targeted by the Ghostface killer in different Scream movies – Gellar in Scream 2 and Weaving in Scream VI. Gellar pointed out this connection but wondered how significant it really is, considering what happened to their characters and the fact that they both died in the films.
Sarah Michelle Gellar pointed out that Samara wasn’t technically a victim of the original Ghostface, as she was killed by the college students, not the first Ghostface killer.
Gellar pointed out that, regardless of minor details, the name of Weaving’s character, Laura Crane, did appear on a new Scream t-shirt. This shirt listed all the Ghostface victims in order, just like the promotional materials used for the Scream live shows.
Sarah Michelle Gellar and Samara Weaving Were Killed Off in Scream
Sarah Michelle Gellar first appeared in the Scream movies in 1997’s Scream 2 as Cici Cooper, a college student who is one of the first characters killed. Courteney Cox joined the series in 2023 with Scream VI, playing university professor Laura Crane, who is murdered by a Ghostface copycat at the beginning of the film.
Megan Weaver and Melanie Gellar will both be in the new movie, with Weaver returning as Grace MacCaullay, the character she played in the first film. After surviving the terrifying events of Ready or Not, Grace finds herself hunted by other rich families who made their fortunes in the same sinister way as the Le Domas family – the family she barely escaped in the original movie.
In Ready or Not 2, Gellar will play Ursula Danforth, who, along with her husband (played by David Cronenberg) and a group of others, hunts down Grace. Shawn Hatosy and Elijah Wood also star in the film as Titus Danforth and The Lawyer, respectively.
What Can Audiences Expect from Ready or Not 2: Here I Come
In September, actress Issa Rae discussed her latest project, saying it had everything she hoped for in a story. She explained that the team dedicated a lot of time to crafting the right narrative and believes they succeeded, predicting audiences will be very pleased with the result.
The cast of Ready or Not 2: Here I Come has hinted at hidden details, or ‘Easter Eggs,’ for fans to spot, including a reference to Sarah Michelle Gellar’s iconic role. Gellar recently shared that her co-star, Kathryn Newton, subtly dressed as Buffy on set – a detail Gellar didn’t notice until later.
I was acting in a scene with her, and I noticed something. I told her that her outfit looked familiar, and she asked if it did. It turns out we had a funny coincidence – her hairstyle was exactly the same as someone else’s, and I have a picture to prove it!
Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is currently slated to arrive in theaters on Mar. 20.
