Housemarque has shared new details and gameplay footage for their upcoming game, Saros. Players will explore a location called The Passage, where they can meet and interact with survivors to uncover the mysteries of Carcosa. Most excitingly, they’ve finally explained how players will progress in the game and unlock permanent upgrades.
As you play Soltari’s Primary, you’ll improve your character’s stats and unlock helpful bonuses for each new attempt. You can also customize the challenge by adjusting enemy damage and even removing the ability to continue after being defeated. Plus, a key feature lets you instantly travel to any biome you’ve already discovered.
The Eclipse introduces a corruption mechanic that alters enemies and how you fight them. For instance, enemy projectiles can lower your maximum health, but defeating enemies with your Super Weapon actually restores it. Your weapons and Artifacts are also affected, gaining both beneficial and detrimental changes.
Saros, a game inspired by Returnal, will launch on April 30th, a couple of weeks later than originally planned. You play as Arjun Devraj, a Soltari Enforcer, trapped on the planet Carcosa in a repeating cycle. It combines fast-paced, bullet-hell shooting with rogue-lite elements and a chilling cosmic horror atmosphere – complete with bizarre, otherworldly technology.
You can pre-order it now for $69.99 on PS5. If you own the Digital Deluxe Edition, you’ll get to play 48 hours before everyone else, and you’ll also receive three special armor sets based on popular PlayStation games, including one inspired by Ghost of Yōtei.
