Housemarque is getting ready to release Saros next month, and while it likely won’t be available on PC, it’s looking like a fantastic game for the PS5. A recently released gameplay video shows off some of Arjun Devraj’s weapons, including a handgun that can be charged to fire a rapid burst of shots.
Okay, so what’s really cool about this is the bullets bounce! You can shoot at the ground or walls, and they’ll actually hit enemies behind cover. It’s probably not the most effective way to fight, but when you’re really hurting and your shields are down, it can seriously save your life. I’m also hoping there’s some kind of upgrade or ability that makes bounced shots even more powerful – that would be awesome!
Another clip from last week showcases a challenging boss fight. Like the game Returnal and other fast-paced shooters from Housemarque, you’ll have to skillfully dodge or jump over complex attack patterns. You can also use your shield to absorb a lot of enemy fire, which charges up a powerful counterattack. This is just a basic example, though, and I expect future boss battles to be even more demanding.
Saros will be available on PlayStation 5 starting April 30th. If you’re interested in learning more about how the game works—including its progression system and the impact of the Eclipse—you can find a detailed explanation here.
