Savannah Guthrie is asking for the public’s help.
After seven weeks of searching for Nancy Guthrie, who was taken from her Tucson, Arizona home, her family—including the anchor of Today—is asking the public to continue to remember her case.
Savannah, Annie, and Camron Guthrie, along with their spouses, expressed their sincere thanks to the Tucson community, friends, and neighbors in a statement to KVOA News 4 on March 21st. They feel a strong sense of unity and believe that the people of Tucson and southern Arizona are essential to finding answers in this situation.
We are urgently asking for help from the community to review any information related to our mother’s case. Please check any camera footage, diaries, text messages, or even things you remember seeing or hearing – anything that might seem important now, no matter how small. Even a tiny detail could be crucial.
Police confirmed to Today that Nancy was reported missing on February 1st after a friend noticed she hadn’t attended church that morning. Investigators quickly determined she was likely abducted from her home, and security camera footage showed a masked person going to her house, supporting that belief.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, her family is asking anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward.

Investigators believe someone has information about the case. It’s possible a local resident unknowingly holds a crucial piece of the puzzle. They are asking anyone with memories of January 31st, the morning of February 1st, and the evening of January 11th to think back and share anything that might be relevant.
Our hearts ache for our mom with every moment, and we won’t find peace until she’s back with us. We can’t even begin to grieve; we just feel a constant pain and uncertainty. Right now, our only goal is to find her and bring her home. We long to celebrate her wonderful life and her strength, but we can’t do that until she has a final resting place. We appreciate all of your continued prayers.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

Nancy, age 84, was reported missing on February 1st after a friend noticed she hadn’t attended church that morning and contacted her family. Her children searched her property for about an hour before calling the police to report her missing around noon, according to authorities.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
It’s unusual for us to involve the sheriff in a situation like this, but the details emerging from the house are deeply troubling,” he explained to reporters on February 2nd. “This case was particularly striking because of what officers described and what we discovered while examining the scene.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide team is called out when there’s a death, a body to investigate. In this case, we sent them based solely on the information the surveyors provided.”

After looking into the situation, officials stated they think a crime happened at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators now confirm they are dealing with a crime scene. He appealed to the public for assistance, noting the community has consistently helped solve difficult cases and he hopes they will do so again.
The sheriff pointed to Nancy’s difficulty walking—she couldn’t walk even a short distance on her own—as a key reason to suspect something wasn’t right about her disappearance.
As a longtime follower of this case, I’ve always believed she didn’t simply leave on her own. The investigators have hinted at this too, mentioning they’ve found other evidence at the location that strongly suggests she didn’t leave of her own volition. It’s clear something else happened, and they’re not saying she walked away willingly.

The search for Nancy is ongoing, and officials are concerned because she needs daily medication to stay healthy, and she doesn’t have it with her.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman is facing serious health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything, please get in touch. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and really need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mind remains sharp.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally alert and this isn’t a case of dementia. She’s very sharp and aware. Her family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations she has are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

It’s been so hard following the news about Nancy’s disappearance. As a dedicated viewer of Today, I was really struck by what the anchor shared yesterday about how much her family is suffering. It’s just heartbreaking to hear how devastating this is for them.
Speaking for my family, I want to express our gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages we’ve received,” she told NBC’s morning show on February 2nd. “Our top priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the case and asked anyone with information to please reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show immediately voiced their support.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she is personally close to Nancy and feels warmly toward her.
She continued, saying they were keeping Savannah and her family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show truly represented the community at its finest when it asked viewers to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s department with any information related to the case, even if it seemed insignificant.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the sheriff’s department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
Savannah’s former colleague, Hoda Kotb, also responded to the surprising announcement. She shared a heartwarming photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today show set. In a simple message on Instagram on February 2nd, Hoda posted a red heart and praying hands emoji.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be worried.
Pima County Sheriff Nanos said at a press conference on February 2nd that he doesn’t believe there is a current danger, but emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and much work remains.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s safe.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was likely taken from her home against her will, perhaps while she was sleeping, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson on February 2nd. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her faith, writing, “We find strength in prayer, in coming together with love and hope, and in believing in the goodness of people and in humanity itself. Most importantly, we have faith in God.”
Savannah continued, thanking everyone for keeping her mother, Nancy, in their thoughts and prayers. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She quoted Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts and unwavering trust in the Lord in perfect peace.’ She added that this message remains timeless and relevant for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hoping they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re looking for,” he said in a report on NBC’s Today on February 3.
Two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos explained what happened leading up to her disappearance in a press conference.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained at a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t have a paid subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. Later, at 11:56 a.m., her family found her missing, and they called 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
About ten minutes after that, he explained that when their patrol teams arrive at a scene, they immediately begin responding with both search and rescue and detective units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters they had written, hoping to convince whoever might be holding their mother, Nancy, to bring her home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family spokesperson said they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized concerns about the potential for misinformation, stating they need definitive proof their loved one is alive and in the possession of those who have her.
She explained that her mother is the center of their world and their safe place. Sadly, her mother’s health is very delicate, and she’s constantly in pain. Right now, she doesn’t have the medication she desperately needs to stay alive and feel better.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
As someone who often advises on navigating difficult family situations, I can tell you that communication is everything. Right now, we’re hoping whoever has our mother will reach out. We haven’t had any direct contact, and honestly, we just need to open a line of communication so we can start working towards a resolution. It’s about finding a way to talk, and we’re really urging them to make that first step.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake texts as part of an attempt to profit from the situation—Janke described him as an “imposter.” Authorities are also investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ, treating it as a very serious threat. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona property as a routine step in the investigation, Savannah posted another Instagram video suggesting her earlier wish had come true.
Holding Camron and Annie’s hands, she said in the video, “We heard your message, and we’re asking you to please bring our mother back. It’s the only thing that will bring us peace and allow us to celebrate with her.”
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators released photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
I’ve been following this case closely, and the newly released footage from Nancy’s property is really disturbing. It shows someone sneaking up to her house wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack. Then, incredibly, they just punch the security camera! Police had already said the camera was damaged when they got there, but seeing how it was broken is just awful. It’s clear this wasn’t a random act.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been collaborating with private companies to retrieve any lost, damaged, or inaccessible photos and videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort was complicated by the removal of recording equipment. They were able to recover the video from data remaining in the systems’ background processes, according to a statement shared with TopMob News.
“Working with our partners,” the note continued, “law enforcement has uncovered these previously inaccessible new images showing an armed individual appearing to have tampered with the camera at Nancy Guthrie’s front door the morning of her disappearance.”
Following the FBI’s release of video showing someone approaching Nancy’s house, investigators have now shared details describing the suspect.
Okay, so the FBI just put out a new update, and I’ve been obsessively refreshing X (formerly Twitter) for any little detail! Apparently, the guy they’re looking for is around 5’9″ to 5’10” – not super tall, average build, you know? But here’s the thing that really got my attention: he was carrying a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack, a 25-liter one specifically! I immediately went to check if they were still in stock… I need to know everything about this guy and his backpack! Seriously, every detail matters!
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

After Nancy had been missing for over two weeks, Pima County Sheriff Nanos released a statement to explain who might be connected to the case.
In a statement on February 16th, authorities confirmed that the entire Guthrie family – including all siblings and their spouses – have been ruled out as suspects. They emphasized the family has been fully cooperative and are themselves victims in this situation.

The gloves discovered close to Nancy’s house didn’t seem to connect with the rest of the evidence in the case, according to the police.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following this case closely. It’s fascinating how investigations unfold! Just a few weeks ago, authorities discovered a pair of gloves with DNA about two miles from the victim’s home. Sheriff Nanos shared with KVOA that, initially, they genuinely thought the gloves were simply lost from a local restaurant. It just goes to show you how initial assumptions can shift as more evidence comes to light.
As a lifestyle expert who follows these cases closely, I’ve seen a lot of theories pop up online, and one involved those gloves seen in the doorbell footage. People thought they matched the gloves worn by the suspect. But honestly, that was just speculation. The investigators actually tracked down who owned those gloves – someone who worked at a local diner – and it turned out they had absolutely no connection to the case. It was a dead end, unfortunately.
