Savannah Guthrie is not losing hope.
Three months after her mother, Nancy Guthrie, was taken from her home in Arizona, the Today show co-anchor promised to continue searching for her. She shared this commitment alongside a heartfelt Mother’s Day message honoring her 84-year-old mom.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply family connections shape us. Recently, I was touched by Nancy Guthrie’s heartfelt message on Instagram. She shared a beautiful Reel filled with family photos – including her siblings, Camron and Annie – and wrote a message that really resonated with me. She expressed how much her mother, daughter, sister, and ‘Nonie’ are missed, saying their family will never stop searching for her and won’t find peace until she’s found. It’s a powerful reminder of the enduring strength of family love and the pain of loss.
The journalist once again made an urgent appeal for any leads in Nancy’s disappearance. “We desperately need information – someone out there knows something that could help us find her,” she said. She urged anyone with information to call 1-800-CALLFBI.
Savannah reminded everyone that a $1 million reward is still being offered for any information about the missing person, and she concluded with a heartfelt plea: “Please continue to pray for her safe return.”
The sad message from the 54-year-old comes shortly after police in Tucson, Arizona, determined a bone discovered near her home on May 7 wasn’t connected to the case. According to a Tucson Police Department spokesperson who spoke with People magazine, the bone wasn’t related to any crime and was instead part of an archaeological study of ancient remains.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve seen families navigate incredibly difficult times, and the story of Nancy’s disappearance truly highlights that unwavering family bond. From the moment Nancy was reported missing from her Arizona home on February 1st, her daughter Savannah and the rest of her family have refused to give up hope. They’ve consistently reached out to the public, making heartfelt pleas for her safe return – a testament to their love and determination. It’s truly inspiring to witness their resilience.

“It was just awful,” Savannah Guthrie said to Hoda Kotb in an interview on March 25th. “And it’s heartbreaking to think about everything she endured.”
The mother of two stated she won’t stay out of sight during the continuing search, but also shared that she and her family are experiencing immense pain.
The Today show co-anchor explained that she wakes up every night and, in the darkness, finds herself imagining the fear her daughter experienced. She admitted these thoughts are awful, but she feels compelled to confront them.
For a complete timeline of Nancy’s disappearance, read on.

Nancy Guthrie, mother to Annie, Camron, and Savannah Guthrie, was last seen at her home in Tucson, Arizona, around 9:30 p.m. on January 31st, according to the Pima County police.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always emphasizing the importance of community and checking in on loved ones. Sadly, this story highlights why. Nancy, an 84-year-old woman, was reported missing on February 1st after a friend noticed she hadn’t been at church. Her family immediately searched her property, but when they couldn’t find her after about an hour, they contacted the police. It’s a reminder to us all to stay connected and look out for those around us, especially our older neighbors and family members.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos later explained the first steps of the investigation, which involved detectives specializing in homicides, at the victim’s home.
We don’t usually involve the sheriff in situations like this, but the details emerging from the house are deeply troubling,” he explained to reporters on February 2nd. “This case was particularly unusual based on what officers reported finding at the scene.
This isn’t how things usually work,” Nanos explained. “Normally, our homicide detectives are called out when someone dies, when we have a body to investigate. This time, we sent them based solely on the information the surveyors provided.”

After looking into the situation, officials stated they think a crime happened at Nancy’s house.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos stated that investigators have confirmed they are dealing with a crime scene. He asked for the public’s assistance, noting that the community has historically been helpful in solving difficult cases and he hopes they will come forward again.
The sheriff pointed out that Nancy had trouble walking on her own—she couldn’t even walk 50 yards without help—which led him to suspect she didn’t disappear voluntarily.
He stated definitively, “She didn’t simply leave on her own, we’re certain of that.” He also mentioned that evidence at the location suggests she didn’t leave voluntarily.

As we all follow the news about Nancy, I want to highlight a really critical point the authorities have shared: she absolutely needs to take daily medication to stay healthy, and it’s very concerning that she doesn’t have access to it right now. It’s a huge worry, and something we should all keep in mind as the search goes on.
During a press conference on February 2nd, Nanos explained that an 84-year-old woman under their care is facing serious health issues and urgently needs medication. Without it within 24 hours, her condition could become life-threatening.
We’re asking anyone with information about this – if you’ve seen or heard anything – to please get in touch with us. Call 911. We want to avoid another tragedy and need the public’s help.
Although Nancy has faced some health challenges, Dr. Nanos highlighted that her mind remains sharp.
According to Dr. Nanos, Nancy Guthrie is mentally sound and this situation isn’t related to dementia. She’s very alert and aware. The family wants to emphasize that she didn’t simply wander off, and any physical limitations are simply due to her age.
With the search for Nancy still ongoing, Nanos expressed his wish for her to come home safely.
“I hope we find her safe and sound,” he emphasized, “but we cannot ignore what’s in front of us.”

The day after Nancy was reported missing, the anchor of the Today show publicly shared how difficult this time is for her family.
As a close friend and supporter of the family, I want to share their gratitude for all the kind thoughts, prayers, and messages everyone has sent. They told NBC News that their main priority right now is bringing Nancy home safely, and that’s what they’re completely focused on.
She expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their efforts in the investigation and asked anyone with relevant information to reach out to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.

Once Savannah Guthrie learned her mother, Nancy, had been reported missing, her colleagues on the Today show publicly expressed their support.
Jenna Bush Hager shared on the February 2nd episode of Today with Jenna & Sheinelle that she and Nancy are personally close, saying, “We love Nancy.”
She continued, saying they were keeping Savannah and her family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Meanwhile, Sheinelle Jones emphasized the importance of community during this difficult time.
She felt the show was at its best when it asked viewers to help, encouraging anyone with information for the Pima County Sheriff’s department – even seemingly insignificant details – to come forward.
She added, “So we’re sending our prayers but we’re also sending our collective action.”
Before concluding the segment, both hosts continued, “We love you, Savannah.”

And Sunday Today anchor Willie Geist also urged fans to keep an eye out for Nancy.
On February 2nd, he posted on Instagram asking anyone with information about the whereabouts of Savannah Guthrie’s mother, Nancy, to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department in Arizona. He also included the department’s phone number, stating that she was missing.
As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following the news about Savannah’s departure, and it’s been touching to see the outpouring of support. Her former co-host, Hoda Kotb, shared a really sweet photo of Savannah and Nancy together on the Today set. Hoda kept her message simple and heartfelt – just a red heart and praying hands emoji on Instagram. It really speaks volumes when people can express such genuine warmth with so few words.

Police have labeled Nancy’s home in Arizona a crime scene, but they don’t think the public needs to be worried.
At a press conference on February 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that he didn’t believe there was an immediate danger, but cautioned that the investigation was still ongoing and much work remained.
Savannah hasn’t been on Today since February 1st, when her mother was reported missing. However, local authorities have been checking in with her to ensure she’s safe.
The sheriff confirmed they had spoken with her. Her security team has been communicating with them all night, but they aren’t ruling anything out at this point.

On Feb. 2, Pima County police shared a series of updates on the timeline of Nancy’s disappearance.
Investigators now think the woman was taken from her home against her will, likely sometime during the night, according to a Pima County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson on February 2nd. Detectives are investigating the possibility that she was kidnapped.

After news broke that Nancy might have been taken from her home in Arizona while she was sleeping, Savannah made a heartfelt plea.
In a recent Instagram post on February 2nd, she shared her beliefs, writing about the power of prayer, the strength of unity, and the importance of love, hope, goodness, and faith in a higher power.
Savannah continued, expressing gratitude for everyone’s prayers for her mother, Nancy. She described Nancy as a woman of strong beliefs and a devoted person, and asked for continued prayers, believing they would provide comfort and strength right now.
She added, “we need you.”
To conclude her plea, Savannah shared a Bible verse from Isaiah.
She shared a verse from Isaiah, writing, ‘He will keep those with steadfast hearts, who trust in the Lord, in perfect peace.’ She added that it’s a timeless message for everyone.
Savannah continued, “Bring her home.”

Pima County Sheriff Nanos stated that DNA evidence was discovered at Nancy’s home, which is now being treated as a crime scene.
We collected samples and are hopeful they contain enough DNA to help us identify what we’re investigating,” he told NBC News in a report on Today on February 3rd.
Two days after Nancy went missing, Nanos held a press conference to explain what had happened leading up to her disappearance.
According to Nanos, the doorbell camera stopped working at 1:47 a.m., about four hours after she got back from a family visit, as she explained in a press conference on February 5th.
The software identified someone at the door, but the video was automatically deleted because Nancy didn’t have a paid subscription. However, the representative assured her they were still working to recover the footage.
The sheriff explained that Nancy’s pacemaker app lost connection with her phone at 2:28 a.m. Later, at 11:56 a.m., her family found she was missing, and they called 911 at 12:03 p.m. to report it to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department.
About ten minutes after that, he explained that when their patrol teams reach the location, they begin responding by deploying search and rescue, along with detectives from different units.

On February 4th, Savannah, Camron, and Annie read letters meant for their mother and the people who might have taken her, asking for her to be brought home safely.
In a video posted to Instagram, the family stated they are doing everything possible and are willing to communicate. They emphasized the prevalence of manipulated media and urgently requested undeniable proof that their loved one is alive and in the possession of whoever has her.
She described her mother as the center of their world and their safe place. Sadly, her mother is very frail and lives with constant pain, and she doesn’t have the medication she desperately needs to both survive and feel better.
The next day, Camron confirmed in a separate video that the family was still “waiting for contact.”
We’re asking whoever has our mother to please contact us. We haven’t received any direct communication, and we need to establish a way to communicate so we can resolve this situation.
During a press conference on February 5th, FBI agent Heith Janke announced the arrest of Derrick Callella from California. Callella is accused of sending fake text messages as part of an attempt to profit from the situation, and authorities are thoroughly investigating a detailed ransom letter shared with TMZ. Callella has not yet entered a plea and was released on a $20,000 bond.
However, he noted, the Guthrie family was “still waiting for communication.”

On February 7th, the day officials told Today they had searched Annie’s Arizona home as a routine part of the investigation, Savannah posted a new video on Instagram suggesting they had received what they’d asked for.
Speaking while holding hands with Camron and Annie, she said they received the message and understood it. She pleaded for their mother to be returned so they could celebrate with her, stating it was the only thing that would bring them peace.
And if her intentions weren’t clear, Savannah added, “This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”

Investigators publicly shared surveillance photos of a person of interest in the case on February 10th.
Footage from a camera on Nancy’s property shows a person wearing a ski mask and carrying a backpack walking up to the house. The individual then appears to punch the camera, damaging it. Police had previously noted the camera was broken when they arrived at the scene.
For the past eight days, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been collaborating with private companies to find any lost, damaged, or hidden images and videos from Nancy Guthrie’s home. This effort included recovering data after recording devices were removed. The recovered video was found as leftover data within those systems, according to a statement provided to TopMob News.

Two days after the FBI shared video of the person who went near Nancy’s house, investigators provided a description of the suspect.
As a dedicated follower of this case, I’ve been keeping up with the details. The FBI’s Phoenix office recently shared that the person they’re looking for is a man around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with a typical build. A key detail from the video is that he was carrying a black ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack, about 25 liters in size.
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward – up from $50,000 – for information that helps find Nancy Guthrie or leads to the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.

After Nancy had been missing for over two weeks, Pima County Sheriff Nanos released a statement to explain who might be connected to the case.
In a statement on February 16th, authorities confirmed that the entire Guthrie family – including all siblings and their spouses – have been ruled out as suspects in this case. They noted the family has been fully cooperative and are themselves considered victims.

The gloves discovered close to Nancy’s house didn’t seem to connect with the rest of the evidence in the case, according to police.
On March 2nd, Pima County Sheriff Nanos told KVOA, the local NBC station, that investigators initially believed a pair of gloves found about two miles from the victim’s home – and containing DNA – were related to a restaurant. This was nearly three weeks after the gloves were discovered.
Although some people noticed the gloves in the doorbell footage looked similar to those worn by the suspect, Nanos dismissed this as just a guess. They identified the glove’s owner as an employee of a local restaurant and confirmed the gloves were not connected to the crime.
