Look, as a huge Scarlet Witch fan, I have to admit I’ve been bracing for letdown ever since seeing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Seeing her sacrifice herself to destroy the Darkhold Castle – a desperate attempt to make up for everything that happened in WandaVision – was heartbreaking. But honestly, the lack of any real hints about her coming back to the MCU is what really hurts. And unfortunately, it’s starting to feel pretty certain that we won’t be seeing one of our favorite heroes return to the screen anytime soon, and that’s a tough pill to swallow.
It’s been a year since the cast for Avengers: Doomsday was revealed, and fans were still hoping for a cameo by Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff. However, when asked about upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects at C2E2, Olsen admitted she doesn’t have any inside information. She mentioned she knows about VisionQuest because she’s recently seen Paul Bettany, but is completely in the dark about everything else. She even jokingly questioned whether Secret Wars would follow Avengers: Doomsday and seemed confused about the possibility of multiple Secret Wars projects, saying she genuinely didn’t know.
Doomsday Could Only Be Better with Scarlet Witch Present—As a Hero or a Villain
For a while, fans have speculated that Wanda didn’t actually die when Darkhold Castle fell in Multiverse of Madness, but escaped. The current theory is that Doctor Doom is now controlling her, and she’s joined forces with him to fight the Avengers. This storyline fits with the comics, where Doom uses mind control to make Wanda fight for him, exploiting her incredible ability to alter reality for his own purposes. It also aligns with what the Russo Brothers have hinted at.
As a huge movie fan, I’m really hoping the last two films of this Multiverse Saga give some newer heroes a chance to shine. It’s exciting to see Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. coming back, but I’d love to see characters like Shang-Chi, the Fantastic Four team, Thor’s daughter, Sentry, or Ms. Marvel really get their moment. It feels like the perfect time to introduce us to these actors and characters before the MCU moves on to focus on the X-Men. While everyone’s buzzing about the returning favorites in Doomsday and Secret Wars, there are so many other heroes fans are eager to see more of, and I’m hoping the films deliver on that too.
