Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World Rebirth Is 1 of the Most Popular Films in the World

The newest installment in the series is now a hit on a popular streaming service, following its unexpectedly successful launch in 2025.

According to FlixPatrol, Jurassic World Rebirth quickly became the most popular movie on Netflix in the U.S., only a day after it started streaming. It’s also performing well elsewhere, landing at number two on the list of the top ten streaming movies on HBO Max worldwide.

The monster movie was the most popular title on HBO Max worldwide on February 28th, but it has since dropped to number two, behind Sisu: Road to Revenge. Right now, the only films that could potentially take its place are The Mummy and The Mummy Returns, which are gaining popularity again due to recent news about the franchise.

Scarlett Johansson’s Jurassic World Rebirth Revived the Franchise

The recent surge in streaming views is a welcome development, especially considering the lukewarm reception to Jurassic World Dominion three years ago. It’s helping to revive audience interest in the Jurassic Park franchise.

Gareth Edwards directs Jurassic World Rebirth, written by David Koepp, and presents a fresh perspective on the current state of the Jurassic Park universe.

Jurassic World Rebirth follows a secret team sent to a deserted InGen lab on the remote Île Saint-Hubert to collect dinosaur DNA. During their mission, they encounter a family seeking refuge on the island, dangerous corporate agents, and, naturally, a lot of predatory dinosaurs.

The film stars Johansson, Mahershala Ali, Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Luna Blaise, and David Iacono. Rupert Friend, Ed Skrein, Audrina Miranda, Philippine Velge, and Bechir Sylvain complete the main cast of Jurassic World Rebirth.

The Success and Impact (And Future) of Jurassic World Rebirth

Let me tell you, Jurassic World Rebirth, which came out in 2025, was a massive hit! It raked in over $869 million at the box office, which is incredible considering it only cost around $220 million to make. And the recognition didn’t stop there – it’s even been nominated for some pretty big awards, including the Saturn Award for Best Science Fiction Film and an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects – both nominations are still up in the air as of now.

Critics were sharply divided on Jurassic World Rebirth, giving it a 50% rating on Rotten Tomatoes based on over 400 reviews. However, audiences seem to enjoy it more, with a 70% score on the site’s “Popcornmeter” based on more than 10,000 fan reviews.

Although viewers enjoyed Jurassic World Rebirth and are hoping for a continuation, it’s unlikely all the main actors will be back. One of the stars, who is also in Wicked: For Good and Bridgerton, mentioned in September that he plans to reduce his acting commitments for the time being.

Bailey shared that after three incredible years of work, she’s planning to take a break from acting next year. She wants to dedicate her time to the Shameless Fund, an LGBTQ+ charity, and will be focusing on building the right team over the coming months to ensure its success.

Just a month after Bailey made his statement, news emerged that he was actually discussing a deal. Reports also indicated that Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali were likely to return, and director Gareth Edwards was close to signing on for the sequel.

While Universal hasn’t officially announced a sequel, one is probably coming soon, given the success of Jurassic World Rebirth both in cinemas and on streaming services.

Jurassic World Rebirth is currently available for streaming on Netflix.
