Paramount is releasing the sixth ‘Scary Movie’ film one week earlier than originally planned.
I was really looking forward to the newest movie in the Scary Movie series – it was originally scheduled to hit theaters on June 12th.
The movie will now be released on June 5th, likely to avoid going up against Steven Spielberg’s new film, Disclosure Day, which is scheduled to come out on June 12th.
Marlon Wayans, known for his role as Shorty Meeks, announced on Instagram that he’s currently working on editing ‘Scary Movie’.
We’ve had to change our release date. While we originally planned to launch on June 12th, the incredible excitement and support means we can now release a week sooner!
Great news! Scary Movie will now be released on June 5th. We’re kicking off summer with a lot of laughs, and I’m really looking forward to it.

Despite its upcoming release, the film will face competition from two other movies opening the same weekend: Masters of the Universe, starring Ryan Reynolds, from Amazon MGM Studios, and Power Ballad, starring Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas, from Lionsgate.
Wayan hinted that the upcoming movie will be as creatively funny and daring as the previous films in the series.
The filmmaker told Entertainment Weekly that the movie appeals to all ages, sparking a much-needed and funny conversation between different generations, from Baby Boomers all the way down to the youngest generation, Gen Alpha. He emphasized that the film is for everyone.
Look, as a critic, I’ve been noticing a real lack of genuinely funny stuff lately. What this project – and I think a lot of comedians are feeling this – is aiming for is a return to the days when comedy wasn’t so…careful. And honestly, I believe that’s only going to happen if we ditch this habit of instantly canceling people for making jokes. We need to let comedians breathe and take risks again.
We’ll stick to our usual approach: making jokes about everyone and everything. We don’t hold back with anyone. We’ve developed a unique style over the years – a way of doing things that’s hard to replicate. It’s simply how we were raised and how we view the world.

We grew up in a home filled with laughter, a sense of humor passed down from our mother. We strive to be bold and unafraid, but also gentle enough to allow others to find humor in their own imperfections.
I’m really excited for the new Scary Movie! It’s awesome to see Shawn Wayans, Regina Hall, and Anna Faris returning – they were hilarious in the originals. And the trailer seems to hint at some fun cameos, including Kai Cenat and even Kim Wayans, which is a nice surprise!
Okay, so I just saw what “Scary Movie” is planning to lampoon, and it’s a pretty wild mix! They’re going after a bunch of recent horror hits – things like “Sinners,” “Longlegs,” “The Substance,” and even the super gory “Terrifier.” It’s gonna be fun to see them poke fun at all that!
Scary Movie is released in UK cinemas on 5 June, 2026.
