A free sci-fi shooter is currently available on Steam for PC users, but you only have until today, March 24th, to claim it. Once you add it to your library, it’s yours to keep! However, the offer ends at 1:00 PM Eastern Time. After that, the game will return to its regular price. Steam Deck owners can also grab the game, but its compatibility with the handheld hasn’t been officially confirmed.
Steam players have a short window of opportunity to get Narvas, a sci-fi platformer shooter from Stranga Games, Tommah Games, and Grab The Games, which was originally released in 2022. The indie game currently has a 60% approval rating on Steam, which isn’t fantastic. Interestingly, it actually had a better rating before it became free. It’s common for Steam games to receive lower review scores when offered for free for a limited time, and Narvas is following that trend. While it seems strange that a free gift would get worse reviews, there are several reasons why this happens.
Sci-Fi Side-Scrolling Platform Shooter
If you’re unfamiliar with Narvas, it’s a sci-fi action game where you run and gun through side-scrolling levels. It’s designed for both solo play and local co-op with a friend, and it’s heavily inspired by the classic Mega Man series.

You play as Mace, a young scavenger recently assigned to the Narvas Colonies’ Resource Collection Department. His new job sends him to faraway planets to gather vital resources, as supplies are dwindling and missions are becoming more perilous. Luckily, Mace isn’t alone – he’s accompanied by his mechanical companion, Toby. Together, they must find resources and uncover the reason for the shortages, because the survival of their colony depends on it.
If you miss out on getting this game for free on Steam, don’t worry – it’s usually only $8.99, which is a good deal. Just keep in mind the game is quite short, lasting only a few hours, which explains the low price.
