Netflix is in the doghouse with some Scooby-Doo fans.
The streaming service shared a first glimpse of its upcoming live-action remake of the popular cartoon on June 8th, but many dedicated fans are unhappy with the actor chosen to play Scooby-Doo.
A 21-second video posted on X starts from Scooby-Doo’s point of view as he searches for someone in the woods. As spooky music plays, viewers see a young Shaggy Rogers (played by Tanner Hagen) pick up a cute brown puppy, who then licks his face.
Netflix announced that Scooby-Doo is becoming a reality! They shared a teaser for Scooby-Doo: Origins, which will be released on Netflix in 2027, calling Scooby “the goodest boy.”
Everyone agrees this dog is adorable, but many fans of the show don’t think he looks like Scooby Doo, who was originally designed as a Great Dane cartoon character.
One X user reacted to the post, jokingly asking if this was finally real. They pointed out that the character had been a cartoon for fifty years and now appears to be a Labrador, calling Netflix’s move unexpected and surprising.
Someone else added, “Scooby Doo is meant to be a Great Dane – it’s really obvious, and a pretty big mistake to get it wrong.”
But other fans seemed to embrace Scooby’s adorable makeover.
One social media user excitedly predicted Netflix would be a huge success in 2027, commenting, “A REAL DOG?” Another added, “If this isn’t the cutest thing on TV, I’ll be surprised!”
And another simply added, “As long as he can talk bro we good.”
Netflix has released a first glimpse of the upcoming series, about three months after revealing the cast. The show will star Mckenna Grace as Daphne Blake, Maxwell Jenkins as Fred Jones, and Abby Ryder Fortson as Velma Dinkley, alongside Hagen.
On March 18th, Hagen excitedly announced on Instagram, “Wow, is this real life?” He shared that he’s incredibly thankful to be playing the famous Shaggy Rogers in the new live-action Netflix series, and expressed gratitude to those who supported him. He ended with a cheerful, “See you soon, everyone!”
Netflix is giving the classic Scooby-Doo franchise a fresh take, showing how the group first came together and met Scooby-Doo.

The new series shows how a group of teenagers first became friends, focusing on Shaggy and Daphne during their last summer at camp. They get caught up in a spooky mystery involving a lost Great Dane puppy who might have seen something supernatural happen.
Velma, a practical and intelligent local, and Freddy, a mysterious and attractive new student, join forces to investigate a disturbing case. As they dig deeper, they find themselves caught in a frightening situation that risks revealing hidden truths about themselves.

It’s not just annoying; it actually makes her incredibly sick, causing migraines, nosebleeds, and keeping her up at night. And the worst part is, doctors can’t find anything wrong! It slowly starts to destroy her life, pushing away her family, friends, and everyone she works with. Then, she meets a student who can hear it too, and they form this intense, close bond. But what starts as a connection quickly spirals into something much darker, and the results are truly heartbreaking.
