With the release of Scream 7, fans have been speculating about the movie for a long time, especially regarding Matthew Lillard’s character, Stu Macher. Many wondered how Stu, one of the original Ghostface killers who seemingly died in the first film, could be back. While Scream 7 explains Stu’s return, it also sparked new theories about another Ghostface – and now, we have an official answer.
In the latest Scream movie, the killers use AI to create deepfakes of past Ghostface characters – including Stu Macher, Nancie Loomis, Roman Bridger, and even Dewey Riley – to terrorize Sidney. Some fans were surprised not to see Jill Roberts (Emma Roberts) among them, leading to speculation she might still be alive. However, screenwriter Guy Busick has confirmed that Jill is definitely dead, putting those rumors to rest.
As a huge fan, I’m dying to know what’s happening with the cast of Scream 7, and I keep hearing rumors about Emma Roberts coming back! But honestly, according to producer Busick, nobody’s talking about it. He also brought up Jill Roberts, which, yeah, she was awesome, but let’s be real – she took a bullet to the head! And not just any bullet, Sidney shot her! That felt pretty final to me, even more so than what happened with Stu. It seemed like a pretty definitive ending for her character.
Where Does Scream Go From Here?
Although it appears Jill is permanently gone from the series, the future of Scream remains open, and there’s talk of an eighth movie. Scream 7 laid some groundwork for a potential sequel, especially regarding the killer’s attempt to continue the tradition of the “final girl” by targeting Sidney Prescott’s daughter, Tatum. While their plan didn’t succeed completely, Tatum still experienced a similar trauma to what Sidney faced in the first Scream, creating a possible storyline for a new generation of characters.
Despite talk of another sequel, it’s still uncertain whether Scream 8 will be made. The movie hasn’t been officially approved, and with the changes after Scream 7, there are many possible ways the story could go. Currently, the only certainty is that Jill Roberts probably won’t return, even if an eighth film does happen – some characters truly stay dead.
