After a surprising turn in Scream 6, the future of the Scream series was uncertain, even with Neve Campbell’s return. However, Scream 7 proved to be a huge success, earning the highest box office numbers in the franchise’s history. Now, the team behind the next installment, Scream 8, has been announced, and they seem like a perfect match for the series.
According to Deadline, the next Scream movie, Scream 8, will be written by Lilla and Nora Zuckerman. These two are experts in mystery and suspense, having created the popular series Poker Face for Peacock. They’ve also worked on shows like Prodigal Son, Suits, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., and the critically acclaimed Fringe. With the Zuckerman sisters on board, Scream 8 is in good hands, which should reassure fans of the franchise.
Despite Negative Reviews, There’s Still Plenty of Life in the Scream Franchise

It was always going to be tough for Scream 7 to follow up the success of Scream 5 and Scream 6. Those previous films introduced a new group of main characters – Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, and Jasmin Savoy Brown – and Scream 6 also shook things up by moving the action to New York City, giving the series a fresh feel.
The cast of Scream 7 was completely different from previous films, and the setting changed too. Neve Campbell returned to the series, joined by new stars like McKenna Grace, Celeste O’Connor, and Anna Camp. Original writer Kevin Williamson also directed, but the movie received mostly negative reviews, currently holding a 31% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite mixed reviews from critics, the latest Scream movie has been a hit with audiences. It currently has a 75% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and has earned $118 million domestically, making it the highest-grossing film in the Scream series within the United States. Worldwide, the movie has surpassed $204 million, a new franchise record, exceeding the earnings of Scream 6 ($166 million) and the original Scream ($173 million).
The Scream series is set to continue successfully, and with the current writing team, the next installment, Scream 8, has a good chance of becoming the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
