Sean Bean’s Robin Hood Reboot Is Climbing Up the Charts Again on MGM+

As a movie buff, I have to say, this character is a true icon! Everyone knows the story of this legendary outlaw, and it’s no surprise they’ve shown up in so many films and TV shows – sometimes as the main hero, other times as a memorable sidekick. They just keep coming back, and for good reason!

MGM+ introduced a new take on the Robin Hood legend in November 2025, focusing on a younger version of the outlaw named Rob. Although the first season concluded on December 28th, the show continues to be very popular with streaming audiences. As of late March, Robin Hood had climbed to sixth place on FlixPatrol, a two-spot increase from earlier in the month.

The show has been performing well since it was released, recently climbing to third place on MGM+’s worldwide charts and sixth in the UK. This return to popularity happens right before the series becomes available for digital purchase starting March 30th.

What Happens in Robin Hood?

This new take on the Robin Hood legend, created by Jonathan English and John Glenn and produced by Lionsgate Television for MGM+, centers on Rob, the son of a Saxon forester, and Marian, the daughter of a Norman earl. Together, they battle for fairness and liberty in England after the Norman Conquest during medieval times.

Rob leads a group of outlaws fighting against the Normans, while Marian goes undercover in the royal court. Together, they work to stop corruption and restore peace to England, all while dodging the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Okay, so this show has Jack Patten as the main guy, which is awesome. They’ve also got Albert Rice playing him when he’s younger, which is a cool way to show his backstory. And I’m really excited about Lauren McQueen as Maid Marian – she’s fantastic! They even have Billie Gadson playing a younger Marian, so we get to see her whole journey. It’s a smart casting choice, honestly.

The cast also features Lydia Peckham as Priscilla of Nottingham, Marcus Fraser playing both John Nailer and Little John, Henry Rowley as Will Gamewell, Erica Ford as Rosemary “Ralph” Miller, Angus Castle-Doughty as Friar Tuck, Steven Waddington as the Earl of Huntingdon, Connie Nielsen as Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine, and Sean Bean as the Sheriff of Nottingham.

Robin Hood Will Return for Season 2

Just under two months after the first season ended, MGM+ announced it was renewing the show. The series proved to be very popular, becoming one of the network’s most successful first seasons ever.

I’m so excited for Season 2! It’s going to take the story way beyond Sherwood and Nottingham, all the way into the royal courts of England, France, and Rome. It sounds like what started as an outlaw rebellion is now going to become a massive power struggle for the future of the kingdom itself. And the best part? They’re starting production this summer, so we won’t have to wait too long!

Robin Hood Season 1 is streaming on MGM+. Season 2 doesn’t have a release date yet.
