This is it.
Lionsgate recently released the first trailer for the upcoming film Michael, which stars Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the late Michael Jackson. Jaafar bears a striking resemblance to his uncle.
Jaafar flawlessly recreates scenes of Michael Jackson â performing for his fans, accepting Grammy awards, and doing the Moonwalk â while Quincy Jones (played by Kendrick Sampson) offers encouragement from the recording studio.
Michael stepped up to the microphone in the recording booth and politely asked Q to dim the lights, then gave his trademark smile and laughed.
The preview features a mix of Michael Jacksonâs most popular songs â including âWanna Be Startinâ Something,â âBeat It,â and âHuman Nature.â It concludes with a montage of clips showing different stages of his life, from his childhood to the making of the âThrillerâ video, and finishes with a memorable dance moment.
Michael Jacksonâs son, Prince, complimented his cousinâs work in the trailer, expressing his approval.
Prince shared a trailer clip on Instagram on November 6th, expressing his excitement for everyone to see it. He also shared how proud he was of all those involved, especially his cousin, Jaafar Jackson, adding that the world isn’t prepared for Jackson’s talent.
The film Michael, directed by Antoine Fuqua, features Miles Teller as John Branca, Colman Domingo as Joseph Jackson, Nia Long as Katherine Jackson, Larenz Tate as Barry Gordy, and Kat Graham as Diana Ross.
Scheduled for release in April 2026, the movie will explore the life of the late Michael Jackson, showing both his public performances and private life. He passed away in 2009.
The film explores Michael Jacksonâs life beyond his music, starting with his early success as the frontman of the Jackson 5. It follows his journey as he strived to become the worldâs greatest entertainer, driven by his incredible talent and ambitious creativity.
The film offers an unprecedented look at Michael Jackson, showcasing both his personal life and unforgettable performances from the start of his solo career. It reveals where his incredible journey began.
In January 2023, the world met Jaafar, the son of Jermaine Jackson and his ex-wife, Alejandra Genevieve Oaziaza, as he began his new role.
Jaafar shared on Instagram that he felt honored to be portraying his Uncle Michael’s story, posting a photo from rehearsals and promising fans worldwide he’d see them soon.
