Kate Middleton is saying “ciao” to more royal duties.
After sharing her cancer diagnosis, Princess Catherine made her first trip abroad, visiting Italy for two days, from May 13th to 14th.
I was so excited to see Kate take this solo trip! She went to Reggio Emilia to continue her amazing work with the Centre for Early Childhood – it’s the foundation she started back in 2021, and she’s really dedicated to helping children develop. It was wonderful to see her focusing on this important cause, even without Prince William by her side.
During the tour, the royal will meet with families, teachers, and government officials in Northern Italy, a region famous for its forward-thinking programs for young children.
Before Princess Kate’s trip to Italy, a royal spokesperson explained that she was eager to see how the Reggio Emilia approach helps children grow by combining nature with supportive relationships. This was shared in a statement on May 5th.
After finishing cancer treatment in September 2024 and sharing her positive progress from remission to recovery in January 2025, the 44-year-old is actively pursuing a busy and fulfilling schedule.
Kate shared on X that she’s optimistic about the year ahead and grateful for the ongoing support she’s received. She expressed excitement for what’s to come.
She also emphasized her positive outlook on her 44th birthday earlier this year.

In a January Instagram post, Kate expressed deep gratitude. She described a sense of inner peace, letting go of fears and finding healing through acknowledging emotions. She sees nature as a gentle guide, helping us remember, learn, and connect with what it means to truly live.
Kate recently traveled to Italy, her first trip abroad in over two years. However, she’s been active closer to home, recently celebrating Easter at Windsor Castle with her children – 12-year-old George, 10-year-old Charlotte, and 7-year-old Louis – alongside her husband, William, 43, and King Charles III and Queen Camilla.
