New details about Jason Statham’s upcoming action movie have been revealed, giving fans an update on how production is going and when they can expect to see it. As the sequel gets closer to release, excitement is building for the next installment in this thrilling franchise.
Jason Statham-led The Beekeeper 2 wraps production
Filming on The Beekeeper 2, starring Jason Statham, has finished. Director Timo Tjahjanto announced the wrap on December 3, 2025, sharing behind-the-scenes photos on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, with the simple message: “Wrapped. #TheBeekeeper2”.
Now that filming is finished, the movie is moving into the editing and finishing stages. Amazon MGM Studios is planning a release sometime between mid and late 2026, though they haven’t announced a specific date yet.
Director Timo Tjahjanto, who previously worked on The Night Comes for Us, is now leading the Beekeeper film series after David Ayer. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Tjahjanto explained that he plans to reimagine Jason Statham’s character, Adam Clay, as a similar type of vigilante to Marvel’s The Punisher. He jokingly said that if he can’t direct a Punisher movie, he’ll make Adam Clay fulfill that role instead.
Tjahjanto shared his enthusiasm for the film series, saying he saw a lot of similarities between Jason Statham’s character and his favorite Marvel hero, The Punisher. He felt Statham’s performance captured the same kind of intense, uncompromising personality as Frank Castle.
The director believes Jason Statham possesses a similar, serious and reserved presence as the character Frank Castle. He also praised Adam Clay’s character for being inventive and flamboyant in his approach to violence.
Tjahjanto also mentioned the sequel will be bigger in scope, with more formidable villains. He said, “Fans can expect the villains to be a much larger threat in this film.”
Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed the film is in development.
