Serena Williams, Amy Schumer & More Who Gave Weight Loss Drugs a Shot

Oh, oh, oh are we still talking about Ozempic? We are.

I’ve noticed something really interesting with these weight loss injections – first with the original, and then with medications like Mounjaro, Wegovy, and Rybelsus. Whenever celebrities talked about it, it always seemed to be either making light of how many people were using them, or flat-out saying they hadn’t tried it themselves. It was like nobody wanted to admit they were part of the trend!

For example, Khloe Kardashian recently defended her fitness routine on Instagram. When someone questioned her, she replied that she works out five days a week, starting at 6 a.m., and asked people to stop making assumptions about her efforts.

Not that she’s trying to stick it to those who have turned to a medication for a little extra help.

Last December, the Kardashian star told Bustle that she doesn’t concern herself with what others do to change their bodies, even if it involves surgery or weight-loss drugs like Ozempic. She believes everyone should feel good about themselves, and she wouldn’t judge them for it.

Amy Schumer, meanwhile, takes issue with the secrecy.

The comedian revealed she tried Ozempic, explaining it made her feel unwell and unable to enjoy time with her son. She also criticized others who deny using the drug.

She claimed that many people are trying the weight loss trend, despite pretending they’re simply eating less. Speaking on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in June 2023, she bluntly stated, ‘Stop lying! Either you’re using a drug like Ozempic, or you’ve had cosmetic procedures.’

Earlier this month, she openly shared that she’d lost 50 pounds. She’s been managing two health conditions – Cushing Syndrome and endometriosis – and has been focusing on her well-being. In a now-deleted Instagram post, she revealed she’s had cosmetic surgery in the past and currently uses the medication Mounjaro.

Andy Cohen mentioned in September that he lost a significant amount of weight by taking a very small dose of a GLP-1 medication.

And they’re not the only stars refusing to plead the fifth when it comes to their dieting methods.

Serena Williams recently shared that she lost 31 pounds with the help of a GLP-1 medication. Following suit, Amanda Bynes revealed on Instagram in December that she lost 28 pounds using Ozempic.

Long before appearing on Dancing With the Stars, the star of Secret Lives of Mormon Wives publicly shared that she was using semaglutide injections – known as Ozempic and Wegovy – to help with weight loss.

She revealed on YouTube in January 2023 that she’s found something that helps her lose fat, explaining she believes it’s simply eliminated through urination.

In October 2025, the star of Queer Eye revealed they began taking a GLP-1 medication after experiencing a health issue in 2023.

Jonathan shared in a TikTok video that after experiencing a health problem, he planned to get a colonoscopy. If the results were clear, he intended to start using a GLP-1 medication, as he simply wasn’t feeling well.

Jonathan shared that he’s in the best shape of his life after losing weight and starting Pilates at Solidcore. He said he’s always wanted visible abdominal muscles and now, for the first time, he has them, which makes him feel great and confident enough to show them off more often.

Even after losing 70 pounds with medication, Jonathan continued to champion body positivity.

They explained that they believe in body neutrality – the idea that your value as a person isn’t tied to how you look. Everyone deserves love and appreciation, no matter their body type or appearance.

The comedian started taking Mounjaro, a medication for Type 2 diabetes, in late 2022. She revealed her significant weight loss in May 2025.

Rosie shared on Instagram, expressing disbelief at her transformation, along with the hashtags #mounjaro, #weightloss, and #bodydismorphia.

Meghan Trainor and her husband, Daryl Sabara, bonded even more after becoming parents to their son, Riley, in 2021. They took on the intense 75 Hard challenge and successfully completed it, as Meghan shared on their podcast, Workin’ On It. They then started hearing from friends and even doctors who were using medications like Mounjaro and Ozempic.

Both Daryl and I chose the smallest effective dose of Mounjaro, and we’re combining it with exercise and healthy eating,” the singer of “All About That Bass” shared. “We began this health journey together.”

Kendra Wilkinson, known from the show Girls Next Door, tried a weight loss injection, but only used it once. She announced on Instagram in April 2025 that she started the shots, then quickly decided against continuing and said she was discarding it.

The model said she decided it wasn’t worth risking her health. She’d heard about too many people getting seriously sick and needing emergency room visits or even surgery, and she wanted to avoid that at all costs, especially as a mother of two.

In March 2025, the host of the Golden Globes spoke out in support of Ozempic, encouraging people to feel comfortable discussing their use of the medication.

She enthusiastically shared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she fully supports anyone considering Ozempic. ‘I’m all for it,’ she said, adding, ‘I have no problem with anyone choosing to use it.’

She explained that she wants to break down the shame surrounding weight loss, because she believes that shame actually comes from people who want others to stay larger. She feels these people are upset when someone starts losing weight, as they may feel threatened by the change and the person’s positive qualities. It’s as if maintaining someone else’s weight is all they have to hold onto.

The model stated in December 2024 that she previously used Ozempic, but she quit taking it when she began competing on Dancing With the Stars the previous autumn.

Nader admitted to trying the viral trend when it first started, saying everyone else was doing it too. He explained it initially made him feel sick, but he actually enjoyed it. However, when he competed on Dancing with the Stars, he realized he couldn’t continue doing both.

Brooks explained that the medication made her lose some of her drive and energy to exercise. She chose to focus on dancing instead, and stopped getting shots to help her with it.

In November 2024, Dog the Bounty Hunter’s daughter revealed she’d lost 58 pounds over ten months by changing her diet and using the weight loss drug Tirzepatide. She said she now feels proud of her progress and how she looks.

Before finding a weight loss solution that suited her, she had a negative experience with Ozempic. She told TopMob News, “I really disliked it. It made me feel sick to my stomach, and sometimes I couldn’t eat anything at all. My body just didn’t react well to it.”

The star of The Real Housewives of New York City recently addressed rumors about her noticeable transformation between seasons 14 and 15.

She explained to Us Weekly in October 2024 that it’s common for people on reality TV to face speculation about cosmetic procedures like plastic surgery or weight loss drugs. She specifically expressed strong dislike for Ozempic, stating she would never inject herself with it.

After people on social media wondered if Lizzo had used the drug Ozempic to lose weight, prompted by a recent photo showing her slimmer physique, the singer shared a video. The video featured a popular sound clip from the movie Django Unchained, spoken by actor Christoph Waltz, saying, “It’s like a reward.”

Later, though, the musician admitted she gave some injectibles a shot.

Lizzo explained to Trisha Paytas on the Just Trish podcast in June 2025 why she stopped taking GLP-1 medications before finishing her treatment. She said that medications like Ozempic work by helping you eat less, making you feel full. However, she believes you can achieve the same results by controlling your eating habits and willpower on your own.

In a September 2024 episode of her podcast, Dream On, Kate Moss’s sister shared that starting Ozempic was “the worst decision I ever made.”

The model became sick after accidentally taking a dose of medication intended for someone much larger – around 220 pounds or heavier – and had to be hospitalized.

She explained that she became so severely dehydrated she had a seizure, which was the most frightening experience of her life. A friend had to hold her feet to keep her still, and she described her face and body becoming completely tense and clenched during the frightening ordeal.

Oh my gosh, you will NOT believe this! I was reading Page Six and found out that Jon Gosselin – yes, the Jon Gosselin from Jon & Kate Plus 8 – lost a whopping 32 pounds in just two months! Apparently, he’s been getting these injections – it’s called semaglutide, which is the generic version of Ozempic. I’m seriously so impressed and a little obsessed with knowing how he did it!

“You know what’s annoying?” he said. “The regret of not starting it 10 years ago.”

As a lifestyle expert, I want to address something I shared on my blog recently. There’s been a lot of talk about weight loss journeys, and I wanted to be clear: my 50-pound weight loss back in 2022 wasn’t achieved through medications like Ozempic. I’ve been open about my health and wellness, and I felt it was important to address that directly.

She emphasized that she would never criticize anyone for making that life choice.

In August 2023, the actor known from 30 Rock shared on Today With Hoda and Jenna that he lost weight using Ozempic, which reduced his hunger.

I was so surprised to hear about his health update in March 2024! He actually joked on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that he’s been able to eat more than Ozempic allows, and he’s gained a full 40 pounds because of it. It was definitely unexpected, but he seemed to be taking it all in stride.

He later told TopMob News he was just kidding, and shared, “Ozempic worked really well for me, and I’m happy I used it.”

The star of The Real Housewives of Dubai revealed she used Ozempic while experiencing a midlife crisis at age 45.

Caroline Stanbury recently discussed the challenges of weight loss after turning 40 on her podcast, Uncut & Uncensored. She explained that many women have asked her how she’s managed to lose weight, and she admitted to using the medication Ozempic, which she believes is a very effective tool for those who can access it.

During a July 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, the Real Housewives of New Jersey star stated she doesn’t use Ozempic. She then jokingly revealed she’s actually using Mounjaro, adding that she’s happy with her current weight and has plenty of energy.

A former cast member of The Real Housewives of Atlanta shared that she wasn’t successful in losing weight using the weight-loss injection.

She explained that a certain treatment didn’t reduce her appetite at all. Unlike some people who lost their appetite, she continued to eat appetizers, a full meal, and even dessert. She shared this in June 2024, adding that seeing it work for others while not helping her left her feeling down and questioning why she wasn’t experiencing the same results.

While I’m not a medical expert, I’m aware of a lot of research on what treatments are effective and what isn’t,” she said in an interview with Fox News Digital. “I believe Ozempic can be helpful, but it also carries potential risks.

Former Little Mix member Perrie Edwards, who has previously discussed her battle with anorexia, shared that it was challenging to ignore online rumors about her weight and whether she was using the drug Ozempic.

Jade shared with The Guardian in August 2025 that she struggles daily with the temptation to try Ozempic. While she understands why others use it, she worries that, given her past struggles with eating disorders, it could be a dangerous path for her.

The actress from Beverly Hills, 90210 used a weight loss drug after having her son, Beau, in 2017.

I’m a big fan and listen to her podcast regularly. In a recent April 2024 episode, she was really open about her weight loss journey. She said Ozempic just didn’t seem to work for her personally, but thankfully Mounjaro did! She actually lost weight with it, and I was so glad to hear she found something that worked.

The actress explained to Francesca Amiker of TopMob News that it’s crucial to remember medications are prescribed for specific individuals and shouldn’t be used simply for cosmetic reasons.

Raven said, “Take care of business, but please make sure the medicine goes to those who really require it.”

As a lifestyle expert, I’ve been following a lot of health trends, and I wanted to share something I learned recently. Back in September 2023, I publicly shared that I’d lost 42 pounds earlier in the year with the help of Ozempic. It was a personal journey, and I felt it was important to be open about the tools I used to achieve my wellness goals.

She told TopMob News that the decision is entirely yours. She also clarified that using something to aid weight loss isn’t shameful or something to hide; it’s perfectly acceptable.

She added, “We don’t have to bulls–t.”

Sharon’s daughter has also weighed in on the Ozempic trend.

“It’s fantastic,” the former star of Fashion Police told TopMob News in January 2024. “There are so many ways to lose weight, so why not choose one that’s more enjoyable than just exercising?”

Kate Winslet, known for her role in Titanic and previously scrutinized by the tabloids for her weight, recently spoke about the current focus on weight loss.

In a March 2024 interview with The New York Times Magazine, Kate confessed she wasn’t familiar with Ozempic, saying, “All I know is that it’s some pill people are taking.”

“Oh, my God,” Kate remarked after learning about the injectable. “This sounds terrible.”

In December 2023, the star of The Hills shared that she had recently lost 22 pounds without using the drug Ozempic. She told Page Six that she believes there are no easy fixes when it comes to weight loss, and she wouldn’t personally use a drug like Ozempic, nor would she comment on others who do. She stated she doesn’t want to name anyone or get involved in that discussion.

Heidi said she’s looking for something sustainable and isn’t afraid of putting in the effort.

During her June 8, 2023 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, actress Amy Schumer criticized celebrities for being dishonest about using Ozempic for weight loss.

She said it seems like everyone is trying Ozempic, and people are being dishonest about it. Addressing Andy Cohen, she called out those claiming they’re simply eating smaller portions, saying they’re likely using Ozempic or have had cosmetic procedures and should just be honest about it.

Senator Schumer, known for being honest about her health choices, explained, “It’s important to be upfront with people. I openly shared that I had liposuction.”

She shared that she quickly became interested in Ozempic in 2022, but ultimately stopped taking the medication, which is typically used for Type 2 diabetes. She explained it interfered with her ability to enjoy time with her son, Gene, making it unsustainable for her to continue.

I remember being too sick to play with my son,” Schumer shared. “I was really thin at the time, and he was throwing a ball at me, but I just didn’t have the energy to participate.

Dr. Drew recently told TopMob News that people generally have complicated reactions to shows like Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. He explained that while viewers are often fascinated, they also tend to be critical and judgmental.

He added that if a treatment could offer benefits, people should definitely consider trying it.

Forget winter, a hot take is coming.

The former Game of Thrones star didn’t hesitate to share her thoughts on Ozempic and the ads promoting it.

On April 5, 2023, the actress shared a post on her Instagram Story from writer Sophie Vershbow. Vershbow had tweeted a strong reaction to advertisements for Ozempic, a weight loss drug, which she saw in the Times Square subway station, saying they were unwelcome. She included photos of the ads, one of which stated, “One shot to lose weight,” and another that said, “A weekly shot to lose weight.”

Turner adding her own commentary, writing, “WTF.”

Novo Nordisk, the company that makes Ozempic, has stated that the drug is not currently approved by the FDA for long-term weight loss.

Novo Nordisk, the maker of Ozempic, acknowledges that some doctors are prescribing the drug for weight loss, even though it’s not officially approved for that purpose. The company states it doesn’t promote or encourage this ‘off-label’ use and is committed to following all U.S. laws regarding how they market their products. They also express confidence that doctors are making appropriate medication choices based on each patient’s specific needs.

Comedian Chelsea Handler is speaking out about her experience with Ozempic. She says her doctor prescribed the drug for anti-aging purposes without fully explaining what it was.

She mentioned on the January 25, 2023 episode of Call Her Daddy that she was surprised to find out she was using a certain method, and someone told her it could help her lose about five pounds.

But while she tried the drug, Handler noted that she didn’t like how it made her feel.

She remembered returning from vacation and immediately using the medication. A few days later, while having lunch with a friend, the friend mentioned feeling sick and revealed she was taking Ozempic. She realized she’d been feeling unwell too, but initially attributed it to jet lag from her trip to Spain.

Handler eventually stopped taking the medication because she didn’t need it for her health. She shared any leftover doses with friends.

I’m honestly shocked by what happened. A friend of mine admitted she actually gave Ozempic to four or five of her friends – and the reason? She decided she didn’t need it, thinking it was just for people with a lot of weight to lose! She was literally scheduling appointments at her house, saying things like, ‘I can fit you in at 1 or 2,’ like it was some kind of wellness service. It’s just… unbelievable to me that she’d do that to others when she didn’t feel it was right for herself.

Khloe Kardashian clapped back when commenters on Instagram speculated that she was taking Ozempic.

Kardashian responded to criticism in a January 2023 post, pointing out her dedication to fitness. She explained she works out five days a week, starting at 6 a.m., and asked people to stop making assumptions about her. She ended by noting that even at the start of a new year, negativity persists.
