Session: Skate Sim Dev Reveals Shapeshifting Werewolf PS5 Game

crea-ture Studios, the team behind the skateboarding game Session, is changing gears with their next project, Werewolf: The Apocalypse – Rageborn, a fast-paced, top-down action game where you play as a werewolf.

This game takes inspiration from the tabletop role-playing game with the same title, but focuses on the unique ability to freely transform into different forms.

In the full game you’ll have three options to choose from:

Homid
The human form. Excels at ranged weapons, firearms and crossbows. Use mobility to your advantage with the kyoketsu shoge.
Lupus
The wolf form. Agile and swift, ideal for exploration, stealth, and silent takedowns.
Crinos
The ultimate war form. Unleash devastation in close combat with Rage-fueled combos. Smash through obstacles and access new areas.

As explained in the video above, you’ll need to mix-and-match these types to progress.

The Homid excels at fighting enemies from a distance, such as drones. On the other hand, the Lupus is faster and more agile, making it ideal for jumping and moving around obstacles.

Here’s how the press release sets up the story:

When Taylor witnesses the murder of his environmental activist friend, something primal awakens within him. He transforms into a powerful, monstrous being – a werewolf driven to protect the planet. This sets him on a dangerous journey through the Alaskan wilderness, fueled by revenge and a search for who he truly is.

The game is scheduled for release in 2027, but the initial preview felt somewhat superficial and uninspired. However, it’s still very early in development, and the concept of changing shapes during gameplay shows promise.

We’re sure the dev will have a lot more to show in the lead up to launch next year.
