Seth Rogen has no plans to rekindle his friendship with James Franco.
The actor, known for his work in Studio, spoke about how his relationship with James Franco ended following accusations of sexual misconduct against Franco in the 2010s.
Seth Rogen explained to The New York Times that the details surrounding the situation are too private for him to discuss at this time. He reiterated his public position, noting he hasn’t worked with the person in question for several years, which he feels demonstrates his stance.
Although they stopped working together, Rogen didn’t want to discuss the details of their personal relationship, explaining that it was very complicated.
I’m hesitant to involve people I’m not sure I should, and I don’t see any personal gain in revisiting this. Nothing’s changed since we last discussed it, and I haven’t worked with him in years – and don’t plan to again.
Rogen also revealed that he had not “talked to [Franco] in a long time.”
The actor from Superbad has talked before about how the accusations against James Franco affected their friendship and what he thought about the situation.
In a 2021 interview with The Times, Seth Rogen explained how certain events impacted his relationships. He stated firmly that he has no tolerance for abuse or harassment, and would never protect anyone who commits those acts or knowingly expose someone to an abuser.
James Franco, 48, who has denied all allegations against him, also spoke about his relationship with Seth Rogen. The two first met while working on the show Freaks and Geeks and later collaborated on several films, including Pineapple Express (2008), The Interview (2014), and The Disaster Artist (2017).
In a 2024 interview with Variety, the Spider-Man actor said he hadn’t spoken to Seth Rogen recently. He expressed his affection for Rogen, noting they had a wonderful twenty-year relationship, but seemed to indicate it was over, despite his efforts to maintain it. He shared that he had already told Rogen how much he valued him.
