Experience the Game That Brought Commandos-Style Stealth Strategy Back to Modern Audiences
Okay, so I recently played Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, and it’s seriously cool. It’s a stealth strategy game set in old Japan – think samurai and ninjas. What really grabbed me is that it took that classic ‘Commandos’ style of gameplay – you control a small team and plan everything carefully – and totally modernized it. It’s like a perfect version of those older games, but with a fresh look and feel.
You lead a team of highly skilled specialists, each with their own unique abilities. Whether it’s Hayato’s speed, Takuma’s sharpshooting, Yuki’s traps, Mugen’s swordsmanship, or Aiko’s disguises, you’ll need to cleverly combine their talents and plan carefully to succeed in every mission.
Each team member brings their own unique history and motivations to the table, adding depth beyond their skills. As the story unfolds, relationships between them change, with shaky partnerships developing into genuine trust. This creates a compelling, character-focused narrative that’s just as impactful as the game itself.
Each mission is a carefully designed open environment with realistic guard patterns, viewpoints, and schedules. You can choose to sneak through locations like castles, monasteries, and forest camps, using tactics like distracting guards, setting traps, poisoning enemies, or simply avoiding them altogether.
Success isn’t about quick reactions; it’s about careful planning, paying attention to your surroundings, and skillfully coordinating actions with others behind the scenes.
