Shaun White and Nina Dobrev are going their separate ways.
Following a five-year relationship, and around a year since the Olympian proposed to the actress from “The Vampire Diaries,” the couple has reportedly split up, as stated by People, based on a source’s information.
The source shared that it was a joint decision, not an easy one, but one made with a genuine affection and high regard for each other.
TopMob News has reached out to reps for Nina and Shaun for comment but has not yet heard back.
In October, Shaun proposed to Nina in a romantic candlelit setting. Although he’s known for his amazing stunts in the half-pipe, this time he chose a different type of maneuver to surprise his longtime girlfriend. As part of his plan to win her heart and a gold medal, he sent her a phony invitation to a dinner hosted by Anna Wintour. However, when she arrived at the venue, she found Shaun on bended knee instead.
Nina confessed to Vogue that the invitation appeared extremely authentic, causing her anxiety as she thought Anna was expecting her.
In a sweet Instagram post on October 30th, the couple publicly announced their engagement. A collection of intimate photos were shared, including a close-up of her sparkling ring, and Shaun, 38, captioned it, “She said yes.” Nina, 36, joyfully declared on her own post, “Goodbye Boyfriend, welcome Fiancé.
In 2019, there were rumors about their connection, but it wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 that they officially began their relationship by quarantining together. Ever since then, they’ve been relying on each other for love and support.
He clarified that everything is going well between him and Nina, and he’s thrilled to dedicate his time to nurturing their bond as well as his relationships with other loved ones.
He went on to say, “These are the precious instances. You may enjoy the flash and flair, but what truly matters to me is genuine bonding time with loved ones – and now, I’m making that a reality.

Amid my unyielding fandom, let me recount an extraordinary moment: In 2024, post Nina’s harrowing bike mishap that left her grappling with a severe knee fracture and confined to the hospital for subsequent months of rehabilitation, I was there – steadfast by her side.
In 2022, the former Degrassi star enthusiastically supported the Olympian during their final professional snowboarding competition at the Beijing Winter Olympics, as they reciprocally encouraged each other’s achievements.
He shared that although his friend couldn’t physically be with all his loved ones during a particular event, she had created an heartwarming video compilation of well-wishes and messages from everyone, expressing their regret at not being present and sending their love and encouragement. He found this act incredibly touching and it set the mood for the rest of his trip.
And as he looked ahead at his future, Shaun knew that future was with Nina.
He clarified that everything is going well for him and Nina, and he’s thrilled about nurturing their bond while also strengthening his relationships with other loved ones.
He went on to say that what truly matters to him are those special moments spent with loved ones – even if it means foregoing the glitz and glamour of other activities. And now, he’s making sure to have plenty of family time.
