The popular BBC drama Sherwood is returning for a third season with a new cast, including Joe Dempsie, known for his role in Skins, and Sue Johnston, famous from Brookside.
The show is adding Rosalie Craig (known for Riot Women), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (from The Sandman), Peter Wight (Sister Boniface Mysteries), Ben Batt (Toxic Town), and Adam Long (Day of the Jackal) to the cast. They’ll be joining returning stars like David Morrissey, Lorraine Ashbourne, Lesley Manville, Claire Rushbrook, Perry Fitzpatrick, Bill Jones, and Robert Lindsay.
Lindsay Duncan and Robert Glenister will reprise their roles from season one, having not appeared in season two.
The third season picks up six months after the last one ended. It centers around the Woods, a hardworking and well-respected family known for their community involvement and volunteer work at the local church. Zoe, played by Craig, is a dedicated advocate for her town.

The series follows Alex Wood and his wife, Zoe, as they navigate life with their children and Zoe’s parents, Irene and Eric Bostall. Alex is in charge of building a new housing estate called Gotham, located near Sherwood Forest, and their family are among the very first to move in.
I’m really gripped by the case now! DI Zara Gill is heading up the investigation into all those remains they found in the reservoir after Ann died, and it’s turning up some seriously disturbing connections. They’re finding links to people who went missing and who were somehow involved with the Bransons’ shady dealings. But the craziest part? One of the discoveries unexpectedly points right back to the Bostalls – I did not see that coming!
After being missing for forty years, the body of Arthur Bostall was discovered in the old caves beneath Nottingham. This discovery has sparked unsettling questions about his murder and the motive behind it.
When the Wood and Bostall families are confronted with their history, current events begin to reveal long-hidden secrets that affect not only them, but the entire community.
