Publisher CFK and developer DeerFarm have just revealed the first trailer for Shikhondo: Blue Pieta, a new fantasy bullet-hell shooter.
Here is an overview of the game, via CFK:
About
Shikhondo: Blue Pieta is a brand new side-scrolling bullet hell game in the Shikhondo series. It’s a sequel to Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage (coming to Steam in April 2024 and Nintendo Switch in May 2025), and takes place in a different city where a new grim reaper and a vampire hunter’s paths collide.
Full voice acting throughout. Ultra-wide support up to 32:9.
What’s New
This installment of the series introduces side-scrolling gameplay. The levels – including a bustling city, a lively amusement park, and a gritty subway station – are contemporary and feel realistically populated, yet strangely unsettling. The foes you’ll encounter are drawn from the folklore of another world.
The popular Soul Collect system is back and improved! Dodge bullets to fill your charge meter. When activated, it turns every bullet on screen into points, doubling your score. Still have a bomb? Use it to enter a second stage with a 4x score multiplier and increased attack power. Playing closer to the action’s edge maximizes your rewards.
Counter Bomb is a new feature. If you take damage, the screen will flash, giving you eight frames to hit the bomb button. Successfully doing so prevents damage and either activates Soul Collect Mode or uses a bomb. This adds a strategic choice when you’re close to being defeated.
Counter Bomb requires a full Soul Gauge or at least one available bomb.
The game Shikhondo: Blue Pieta will be released on PC (through Steam and Stove) on May 18th. It will be available on PlayStation 5, the new Switch 2 console, and the original Switch sometime after that.
