Wataru Momose, the creator of Romantic Killer, launched a new manga series on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform in January. While Momose has created three serialized manga previously, none of them lasted beyond 40 chapters, despite having promising ideas. The shonen manga genre is incredibly popular, offering a wide variety of stories, but this also means it’s very competitive, especially as the manga industry expands worldwide. Shueisha typically cancels series after about a year if they don’t gain a large readership. Ultimately, even for manga published on major platforms, sales numbers are the biggest factor in deciding whether a series continues.
Shonen Jump+ has already ended over 40 series this year, and now My Marriage to Saneka is among them. The final chapter, number 25, will be released on November 25, 2025. This news comes from @WSJ_manga on X, a trusted source for updates on Shonen Jump series. While the story was well-received for its beautiful artwork and charming characters, it wasn’t enough to continue. Fans are disappointed with Shueisha’s decision, especially since the series had generally positive reviews.
What Is the Plot of My Marriage to Saneka?

Tatsuhiko Shimazaki inherits a house from his grandfather, a man he wasn’t close to. After some convincing from his aunt, he goes to check it out, planning to stay just one night. However, he’s surprised to find a tanuki—a Japanese raccoon dog—inside, who apparently worshipped his grandfather. Things get even stranger when the tanuki transforms into a girl named Saneka, revealing she’s a goddess and the guardian of the house.
Saneka lived with Tatsuhiko’s grandfather for years and now lives in the house by herself after he passed away. At first, she was upset with Tatsuhiko because he didn’t seem to care about his grandfather or the house. But as they talked, Saneka shared stories about how much the grandfather loved Tatsuhiko, and Tatsuhiko began to understand and regret not having been closer to him when he was alive.
He lingered a bit longer, but on the second night, eating a mochi unexpectedly led to a marriage with Saneka – it turns out it’s an old tradition! To his surprise, local gods gathered to celebrate, and Tatsuhiko quickly realized he couldn’t leave without Saneka by his side. As they both adjusted to married life, Tatsuhiko began to understand the hidden world of the supernatural.
