Yuto Suzuki’s manga, Sakamoto Days, which appears in Weekly Shonen Jump, has been incredibly popular since it began, even before the anime came out. The series is a funny and action-packed story about Taro Sakamoto, a former assassin who was once the most feared killer around, but happily gave it all up for his family. Five years after retiring, his quiet life is threatened when his past catches up to him. In August 2025, fans were surprised and saddened to learn that the manga was approaching its final arc, nearly five years after it first started.
Although the series hasn’t officially announced its ending or when the final chapter will be released, it will likely be several months before the story concludes. The final arc, centered around Kei Uzuki, throws the country into chaos as his plan leads to societal collapse. Taro and his friends must act quickly to stop him. While the story races towards its end, Weekly Shonen Jump has already begun introducing a new series for readers to enjoy.
Under Doctor Is The Perfect New Assassin Series For Sakamoto Days Fans

Kyo Tanimoto’s new manga, Under Doctor, launched on the Manga Plus app on January 25, 2026, and is quickly gaining popularity. The story centers around Haiji Kino, an enigmatic doctor with the unusual ability to fall asleep instantly, anywhere. Despite this, he’s incredibly skilled, as he can perceive lights surrounding people when he concentrates, giving him unique insight into their conditions.
By observing the subtle ‘glow’ around people, Haiji can instantly identify their vulnerabilities and accurately diagnose their problems without needing any medical tests. While treating a fellow passenger’s food poisoning on a flight, he realizes the plane has been hijacked. Fortunately, his ability isn’t limited to healing – he can also target his opponents’ weaknesses, making him a formidable fighter. He successfully rescues everyone on board before discreetly parachuting out to avoid being noticed.
This is Tanimoto’s first manga series. Though it doesn’t feature the family dynamics seen in Sakamoto Days, both stories share a similar beginning: incredibly skilled assassins as the main characters. New chapters will be released weekly in Weekly Shonen Jump and can be read on the official Manga Plus app and Viz Media’s website.
