Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump is introducing a new manga series to take the place of a popular one, and they’ve just given fans a first look. Earlier this year, Shonen Jump announced plans to launch three new series in quick succession. Two have already begun, and both have shown a lot of potential, so fans are hoping the third one is just as good.
I just got a first look at Shonen Jump’s newest series, Alien Headbutt, and it definitely feels like something different from what they’ve been publishing lately. It looks like this new series is taking the place of an older one, so something will be ending soon to make room for it. Here’s a sneak peek at what Shonen Jump is hoping will be their next big hit!
Shonen Jump’s Alien Headbutt Reveals First Look

Akira Inui’s new manga, Alien Headbutt, marks their first serialized work with the magazine. The story centers around Ouga Shirokiba, who dreams of becoming a pro wrestler, but gets a surprising twist – he ends up wrestling aliens! It’s a fun concept that fans of Kinnikuman and WWE might especially enjoy. Viz Media will release an English version of the series this week through their digital Shonen Jump library and Shueisha’s MangaPlus service.
The main question surrounding the premiere of Alien Headbutt is what show it will be taking the place of. Two other shows have already premiered this February, following the cancellation of two older ones. The same situation is happening now, but it’s unclear whether another cancellation will make room for Alien Headbutt, or if a currently running show will simply conclude its run naturally.
What Is Going to End in Shonen Jump Next?

The future of some popular manga series is uncertain, as Shonen Jump often cancels those that aren’t performing well. Several long-running titles are also nearing their conclusions. Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days, Yusei Matsui’s The Elusive Samurai, and Kouji Miura’s Blue Box have all announced their final arcs, signaling the end of an era for many series that became popular around 2020.
As the new series Alien Headbutt launches this week, another series will likely be finishing up next week. It doesn’t seem like a cancellation is happening – all the current series still have a ways to go before reaching the 19-chapter mark that triggers an ending. So, it looks like a longer-running series is about to conclude, and fans should watch for the announcement.
