Shonen Jump to Release First New Series of 2026 After Latest Cancellation

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump began 2026 with a series cancellation, but has also revealed information about its first major new series launching that year. Last year saw significant changes to the magazine’s lineup, with 13 series concluding, most of which were cancelled before their planned endings. While 2026 is just starting, this cancellation creates an opportunity for new series to gain popularity with fans.

The manga magazine Shonen Jump has ended Yuka Kawaguchi’s Otr of the Flame. This clears space for a new series launching next week. Publisher Shueisha has shared initial details about the new series and announced that two more will follow soon. This means fans can expect two additional series to end as Shonen Jump makes room for fresh content.

Shonen Jump to Release 3 New Series in 2026

Shueisha has revealed three new manga series launching in the coming weeks. First up is Under Doctor by Tanimoto Kyou, premiering next week and taking the place of Otr of the Flame. The following week will see the debut of “Kaigeki no Kinato” by Amemiya Kento (an English title is still to be announced). And the week after that, Inui Akira’s “Alien Headbutt” will begin. This means two currently running series will be concluding soon.

Fans are speculating about which two series might be cancelled. One possibility is Harukaze Mound, a baseball series that hasn’t been selling as well as other titles in Shonen Jump. This wouldn’t be the first time one of its creators had a series cancelled, and many believe it’s likely to happen. A cancellation would be disappointing, as Shonen Jump could really use more successful sports manga.

What’s Next for Shonen Jump in 2026?

These three series are just the beginning of many new titles coming to Shonen Jump throughout the year. As a couple of long-running series wrap up in the coming weeks, fans will be closely watching these new stories to see which ones might also be nearing their conclusion. Several of the older, established series are also planning to finish up soon.

Yusei Matsui has announced that The Elusive Samurai is nearing its conclusion, and the same is true for Yuto Suzuki’s Sakamoto Days, which is currently in the final part of its story. This means both series could end relatively soon, so fans should watch how things progress with Shonen Jump over the next year or so.
