For the very first time, Shonen Jump and Pokemon are joining forces in a collaboration, an unexpected alliance between two massive Japanese franchises that have made their mark globally. This unprecedented event marks the debut of Pokemon’s artists partnering with Shonen Jump as they each contribute a lead character paired with a unique Pokemon for the cover of Shonen Jump’s upcoming issue on August 4th. Among these collaborators are Eiichiro Oda from One Piece, Kouji Miura of Blue Box, and Shuhei Miyazaki from Me and Roboco. A sneak peek at Kouji Miura’s contribution can be found below.

Pokémon doesn’t limit its presence in the world of manga alone. For several decades, the Pokémon franchise has been using this medium to tell stories, and these narratives often delved into darker themes than what was shown in the Pokémon TV series.
