For decades, Shonen Jump has been a consistent source of manga, but only a handful have truly become exceptional. Among those, Naruto from the 2000s is widely considered a masterpiece – many fans call it the definitive ninja story because of its skillful portrayal of the genre. It’s a landmark series for Shonen Jump, going beyond typical story elements to beautifully showcase Japanese culture and the ninja world that Western audiences have always loved. The series is known for its powerful and moving stories, making it incredibly memorable. So, when a sequel starring Naruto’s son was announced, many fans were understandably worried.
Despite some initial criticism of its anime adaptation and changes in artists, Boruto has become a successful series in its own right. This year marks its 10th anniversary, and to celebrate, V Jump partnered with Ichiban Kuji MASTERLISE – OUTSIDEF to create the first action figure based on Boruto: Two Blue Vortex, the latest installment. The figure captures Boruto’s intense and formidable look from the increasingly exciting and action-packed new story arc.
Shonen Jump’s Ninja Sequel Turns 10 and Continues to Keep the Franchise Alive
This beautiful action figure is currently available in Japan until May 21st. Fans outside of Japan can pre-order it now from retailers like Jump Ichiban, and it will ship in November. Plus, the next issue of V Jump magazine will feature special digital art of Boruto to celebrate the series’ 10th anniversary, starting June 4th, with more exciting announcements to come.
The original Naruto manga series lasted 15 years, and its sequel, Boruto, is already well over halfway to matching that impressive run, proving its popularity. Even though Boruto only releases a new chapter each month, the fact that it’s continued despite early criticism shows how strong the series is. This has become even clearer now that Boruto has moved into a new story arc, Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
The latest installment in the series ramps up the excitement, largely thanks to Boruto, a compelling protagonist who blends traits of both Naruto and Sasuke. This unique combination keeps viewers invested in his journey. The story is consistently thrilling, adding new mysteries with each chapter. The recent defeat of Mamushi has paved the way for the return of Code, a well-established villain. With several characters taking center stage, the narrative is reaching a pivotal moment, and it’s clear that everything is building toward a truly captivating climax, solidifying Boruto as a standout sequel in Shonen Jump’s lineup.
