The ogre is back….

Starting in 2001, Shrek won the very first Academy Award for Best Animated Feature. Now, Shrek 5 is joining the trend of sequels released many years apart – it’s been sixteen years since Shrek Forever After (also known as Shrek 4). And just like before, the initial trailer suggests Eddie Murphy’s Donkey will once again be a standout character.

Returning to Shrek 5….

The beloved cast of Shrek is back! Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cameron Diaz reprise their iconic roles as Shrek, Donkey, and Fiona. Joining them is Emmy winner Zendaya as their daughter, Felicia, alongside Marcello Hernandez and Skyler Gisondo playing Felicia’s brothers, Fergus and Farkle.

Behind the scenes….

The upcoming Shrek 5 will be directed by Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn, both experienced filmmakers and veterans of the Shrek franchise. Vernon previously helped direct the Academy Award-nominated Shrek 2, as well as Madagascar 3 and Monsters vs. Aliens. He’s also the voice of the beloved character Gingy throughout the Shrek series. Dohrn contributed as a writer and artist to the second and third Shrek films, and served as Head of Story on the fourth. He also voiced Rumpelstiltskin in Shrek Forever After. More recently, Dohrn co-directed the first Trolls movie and directed Trolls World Tour and Trolls Band Together. Brad Ableson (Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Simpsons) is also a co-director on the film.
