Sigourney Weaver isn’t quite ready for the heartbreak of this sequel.
Sigourney Weaver, known for her role in Avatar, has expressed interest in a Heartbreakers reunion with Jennifer Love Hewitt. However, she feels it wouldn’t be the same without her late co-stars Gene Hackman, Ray Liotta, and Anne Bancroft, who have sadly passed away since the 2001 film was made.
Sigourney Weaver shared with TopMob News’ Will Marfuggi at the premiere of Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu in Los Angeles that the story is a personal favorite and she cherishes working with the original team, saying she ‘can’t imagine not having them together.’
The movie features Weaver and Hewitt as a mother-daughter duo who make a living by conning rich men. They plan one final scam to settle their debt with the IRS, but things get complicated when Hewitt’s character starts developing real feelings for the man she’s trying to deceive—an experience Hewitt described as a highlight of her career!
Weaver shared with TopMob that they were happy Jennifer had such fond memories of the project, as they felt very proud of the work they did together.
The 76-year-old actress shared that her upcoming Tomb Raider co-star, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, is also a fan of her work, specifically mentioning that Waller-Bridge’s favorite movie of hers is Heartbreakers.

Sigourney Weaver cherishes her memories of the actors she worked with on the classic comedy, but she’s also grown very fond of a more recent co-star: Grogu, the Force-sensitive alien from Star Wars. Surprisingly, despite being a puppet, Weaver felt a genuine connection with Grogu, as if he were truly real.
She remembered spending two or three hours working on the first scene with him, and not seeing anyone operating the puppet. The puppeteers were hidden under the table, keeping the puppet functioning so they could film a scene where her character needed to closely examine it.

And Grogu isn’t just an adorable puppet. As Weaver shared, “He will surprise you.”
She described him as a cheerful, unassuming person, saying he seemed like a sweet little thing, but she believed he possessed a hidden strength and a fighting spirit that people underestimated.
While you’re waiting for the new season of The Mandalorian and Grogu to arrive in theaters on May 22nd, here’s a look at the actors who worked alongside Gina Weaver in Heartbreakers.

Sigourney Weaver was already a celebrated actress long before playing the conwoman Max. She first became famous for her iconic role as Ripley in the Alien movies, and also starred in popular films like Working Girl, Ghostbusters, and Gorillas in the Mist.
Since then, Weaver has starred in the all-time highest-grossing film, Avatar (2009), and voiced characters in popular animated movies like Finding Dory and WALL-E. She also moved into television with the 2012 series Political Animals.
Married to stage director Jim Simpson since 1984, Weaver welcomed her daughter Charlotte in 1990.

Oh my gosh, Lachan Hewitt was everything in the ’90s! I mean, seriously, he practically defined the decade for me! It all started with Party of Five – I was completely obsessed with him as Chris Camden. And then, I Know What You Did Last Summer? Forget about it! He was the ultimate teen heartthrob, and those movies just cemented his status. I was totally hooked on everything he did!
Jennifer Love Hewitt became well-known for playing Page, a charmingly deceptive character, and then starred as the lead in the popular supernatural drama The Ghost Whisperer, which aired on CBS for five seasons starting in 2005. She went on to appear in The Client List and Criminal Minds before joining 9-1-1 in its second season, taking over the role of 911 operator Maddie Buckley Kendall from Connie Britton.

More recently, in 2016, he began starring with Matt LeBlanc in the CBS sitcom Man With a Plan. He’s also created and hosted his own web series, Hiking With Kevin, and reunited with Adam Sandler for another film, Happy Gilmore 2.
Nealon married actress Susan Yeagley in 2005 and they welcomed their son Gable two years later.

Gene Hackman’s role as William B. Tensy on The Conners was one of his last before he retired from acting. He also appeared in several films in 2001, including Behind Enemy Lines and The Royal Tenenbaums, as well as Heartbreakers. His final film was 2004’s Welcome to Mooseport.

In 2025, 95-year-old composer George Arakawa and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, a classical pianist, were found deceased at their home in New Mexico. Betsy was 65 years old. They had been married for 34 years.

The actor, known for roles in Goodfellas and with the Rat Pack, played Dean in the 2001 film, the man who initially targeted Max, then became her husband, and eventually her true love. That same year, he also starred in Hannibal and Blow.
