Silent Hill F Enjoyed an Outstanding PS5 Debut in Japan

There’s been a lot of discussion recently about whether the PS5 has the power needed to handle the complex visions of Japanese game developers on its own.

(Capcom recently hinted that the cost of Sony’s PlayStation could potentially hinder how well Monster Hunter Wilds performs.)

But when it comes to Silent Hill F, the title’s Japanese horror setting has served it well.

Famitsu reports that the game sold 57,475 copies in its first week of physical retail. Keep in mind that this figure doesn’t include digital sales from the PS Store, meaning it’s not a complete representation of total sales.

Wow, this new game is really selling! It’s almost twice as many units as Bloober Team’s Silent Hill 2 remake sold when it first came out. That one did pretty well too, hitting around 29,374 units, but this is on another level! It’s amazing to see this kind of support.

The game is very close to matching the original PS2 Silent Hill 2‘s sales, which reached about 69,000 units back when digital sales didn’t exist. Actually, even using cautious predictions, Silent Hill F has probably already surpassed that classic title in terms of sales.

Actually, if it’s executed well digitally, it could potentially sell around the same amount as the original Silent Hill, which sold 103,000 units at stores when it first launched on the PS1.

These are really positive results, and they definitely show that Silent Hill is making a significant comeback.

Naturally, the game has already sold over one million copies around the world, indicating strong global performance. This is all very encouraging news for what’s to come with the franchise.
