It’s been over a year since the second season of Solo Leveling finished, and fans are eagerly waiting for news about a third season. The studio hasn’t said anything about the future of the anime, which is frustrating for its large global fanbase – built on the success of the original web novel by Chugong and its manhwa adaptation. The wait feels even longer because the story is about to get much more exciting as it delves into the world’s biggest secrets. Despite the delay, most fans believe A-1 Pictures is planning something big for the show’s continuation.
With the incredible popularity of the anime Solo Leveling, it’s highly likely the entire story will eventually be animated. Recently, Kadokawa and Aniplex formed a new company called Animec to handle anime film distribution and marketing. Kadokawa announced the venture on their website, and although it wasn’t specifically about Solo Leveling, the timing is notable given the long-standing rumors of a Solo Leveling movie.
Solo Leveling May Return With a New Film Before Season 3

In November 2025, rumors began circulating online about a potential film adaptation of Solo Leveling. News outlets shared the reports, exciting fans about a possible movie announcement, though reactions were varied. After the studio remained quiet for months, fans started to speculate about whether the film would feature a brand new story or continue the plot from the second season of the series.
I’ve been following this closely, and right now it’s hard to say what’s going to happen next, as there hasn’t been any official word. Hopefully, any announcement about the Animec project will shed light on why we haven’t gotten confirmation of a third anime season yet. If the upcoming film picks up the story after the Jeju Island arc, it seems likely they’ll adapt the Recruitment, Ahjin, and Double Dungeon arcs from the original manhwa. Of those, the Double Dungeon arc seems particularly interesting to me.
Solo Leveling Will Get Even More Intense After The Jeju Island Arc

The most recent season of the anime concluded the popular Jeju Island storyline, with Jinwoo triumphing over the Ant King and successfully completing the incredibly difficult S-Rank dungeon using his shadow soldiers. This dungeon was considered impossible for other top-level hunters, particularly after the Ant King emerged. While Jinwoo has proven himself to be a powerful S-Rank Hunter and accomplished his mission to protect his mother, the overall story continues.
From now on, the story will become even more thrilling as the secrets of this world begin to be revealed. Jinwoo will once again be at the center of the conflict as he learns the truth about his abilities and the Monarch of Shadows.
