The incredibly popular web novel and manhwa, Solo Leveling, gained fans worldwide, and its anime adaptation was a huge hit, quickly breaking streaming records on Crunchyroll. Now, while fans are eagerly awaiting season three news, the franchise has announced a major game update. Solo Leveling: Arise Overdrive, developed with the South Korean company Netmarble, is now available on PC and Xbox PC. The latest trailer reveals the update will continue the story using the highly-regarded Jeju Island Arc. Unlike typical updates that focus on fixing problems, this one actually adds a significant new part to the storyline.
The latest update to the game brings back a powerful enemy from the story – the Ant King. Players will encounter familiar characters battling new dangers that emerge after mysterious gates appear. The game will also be available on Xbox Series X|S in Fall 2026, with a PlayStation 5 version expected around the same time. The game originally launched on November 17, 2025.
What Happens in Solo Leveling‘s Jeju Island Arc?
The story’s main conflict was hinted at from the very beginning: even South Korea’s top Hunters couldn’t contain a monster outbreak. Years earlier, a particularly dangerous portal opened on Jeju Island, forcing its closure. Now, with monsters becoming stronger and able to travel further, South Korea must fight again. To tackle this threat, South Korea’s best Hunters teamed up with the strongest guild from Japan, but the Japanese Hunters had a hidden agenda for the alliance.
The new trailer for Arise Overdrive quickly shows what happens during the mission. We see South Korea’s top hunters failing to damage the Ant King, before Jinwoo steps in to save them. So far, the anime has covered the story up to the Jeju Island Arc, which many fans consider the best part of the series. However, there’s still no news about whether a third season will be made, even though the last episode of Season 2 aired over a year ago.
The story is set to become even more thrilling as the secrets behind Jinwoo’s abilities and their link to the chaotic appearance of Gates are revealed. After the events on Jeju Island, Solo Leveling will introduce some of the series’ strongest characters, including both helpful allies and formidable enemies. Both seasons of the anime are currently available on Crunchyroll, and we can anticipate the next season will also be released there.
